Apple’s new AirPods are $550?!
For that price I can get another smartphone!
What is Apple thinking? Do they really think Apple fans will buy their new headphones when Sony, Bose and Seinhauser make better ones already? Do you plan on getting it and why?

There are plenty of headphones on the market that are more expensive. Im sure none of them integrate with iPhones as well as AirPods. Plus its Apple. No one should actually be surprised at the price.

I could see myself buying a pair when my wireless Beats headphones wear out. I'm on the phone all day so it is a pretty reasonable expense when you factor in I use it for work all year long. :dunno

I'm genuinely interested in the new M1 hardware because it's great to see another player in the Sil1con game.

BUt yeah, $550 headphones doesn't surprise me. They charged $800 for a set of casters.

Yup. I have doubts as to whether the sound quality for these will be able to match the pair of >$500 headphones I own, and IMO they look kind of cheap, but... I own a pair of >$500 headphones, and after 3 years I have been happy with the purchase. Apple does a lot of pretty egregious pricing things but in the grand scheme of things this one seems pretty minor.
