Are you ATGATT?

I understand the concern but at the same time I've seen some crazy stuff out there. The most extreme example (so far) was the cashier at my favorite sandwich shop up here in Santa Rosa. Several days ago and well before the shelter in place order I stopped in to get my "usual". The place was as slammed as it normally is and had their regular army of well positioned employees cranking out sandwiches as fast as possible. All were wearing gloves and a few had paper face masks. The cashier was the exception. He was wearing gloves, face mask, a full apron and a clear plastic face shield resembling a spit mask or the protection I use while grinding metal. I'm not being critical of him. Honestly, I get it. The poor guy is confronted with a new set of contagious unknowns every 90 seconds. Still, the looks on the customers faces while he handed them their food was interesting. I'm not convinced everyone ate the food they had just received. The visual he presented clearly spooked some customers, to say the least.
Fast forward a few days and global and local conditions continue to deteriorate. Personally, I've been approaching this in the same manner I dress for a ride. If I'm going out for a low risk cruise around the back-roads or dirt trails I dress accordingly. If I know I'm going to push it I don't hesitate to use my back protector (street) or my Leatt brace (dirt). While I have yet to don my grinding mask and apron I do have wipes in my car and truck. I'm pretty quick to wipe my hands and anything else I come in contact with while getting gas or groceries. Latex gloves and paper masks are patiently waiting in the glove box(s) in the event things continue to ramp-up.
What are you doing, if anything, to keep yourself and your family safe while out there running "essential" errands?

Driving a brand new car with 12 airbags. Unless a moto is your only transpo you shouldn't be taking that chance. Which is horrible, because traffic is so light! :ride

Whatever that means
What most folk don't realize is that most of the masks i see people wearing don't filter any close enough to be useful, and even if they are wearing a medical N95 mask, they are wearing it improperly. You have to be fitted to a specific type of N95 mask that fits your ugly misshapen face. Otherwise there is no seal and you're breathing in unfiltered air. You also have to be trained to properly put them on and take them off. The procedure and surgical masks i see most people wearing have huge gaps where the people are sucking in non filtered air. Those masks are to keep spittle and other things more or less contained in the mask instead of being aerosolized into everyone business.

gloves typically spread more germs because people don't sanitize their hands as often. They should be used for dirty jobs where you know you're gonna touch something gross. Other wise you're going around touching a bunch of gross things(door handles, pin pads, your tiny dick) and not washing them because "hey i've got gloves on and I'm magically protected.

Wash your hands,
Don't touch your face
Stay home,
Stay away from people

That’s the only covid protection I need. Staying inside, no physical risks. If I have to transit for food, it’s car time.

Bought a selection of gloves at Harbor Freight two months ago. So pleased with that. We have enough to use and toss when outside. Had to teach wife to wash and dry the gloves ON her hands. Honey, WTF are you doing? Drying the gloves! You think that might be easier while wearing them? Hmm, yes, yes it would. :laughing

I've heard the the medical community has started washing/cleaning used N95 masks & reusing due to lack of replacements.

I'm keeping the one I used for smoke, I'm thinking alcohol over chlorine.

I have been carrying a box of latex gloves for diesel pump handles.
Bought a bottle of everclear @ 60%, loaded in a squirt bottle

Same here. The gloves come out whenever I gas up the car. I also keep wipes in the center console and frequently wipe down the steering wheel.
I agree with the other post(s) about poorly fitting masks. It triggers the same thoughts I have when I see someone riding around with their helmet straps loose/unsecured.
