.223 Wylde AR $700 OBO (650 for me) Parts List:
- 16inch .223 Wylde Upper with Carbine gas system from Runner Runner Guns 1/7 Twist
- Palmetto State Stealth Lower
- charging handle
- Nikon P223 scope and scope rings
- magpul B.AD. LeverRunner Runner NiB Bolt Carrier Group
- Magpul Hand Guard
- Magpul Angled forgrip
- Thorsden custom stock
- Palmetto State Milspec lower parts kit

As cheap as it is, thinking I'd rather have something chambered in 556?

Good price for everything it comes with. That scope can be a range in models and value.

You're not going to be able to tell the difference in 223 wylde vs 556 barrels especially if using steel case ammo. Many posts and articles I've read state 223 wylde was more accurate than a 556 barrel.

What the shit is this...
223 Wylde shoots 556 just fine. A couple of mine are chambered in it :thumbup

Also, not a bad price, especially including the scope.

I have spent the last month learning about and building my own AR. The thing I learned is normally better to build the gun piece by piece, because you can get the exact gun you want and spend more money where it is important. Not sure about the scope but I just put together a really nice AR with upgraded barrel and bolt carrier and spent less than $700. The real important parts on an AR are the barrel and bolt carrier group.

Also, there is a difference between .223 and 5.56. You can likely shoot both in a .223 barrel but it's preferred to have a 5.56 barrel as the 5.56 puts out more pressure than than the .223 and it is possible for problems shooting a 5.56 in a .223 barrel.

That being said $700 for a complete AR is not a bad price as the price of AR have gone up in the last month because of Obama. I was in reno this week and even trying to find certain parts was difficult because there has been a run on ARs.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm a complete firearm noob and this would be a gift to the missus. I may just opt to give her a "I'll help you piece together your own AR" coupon like how kids give their moms house chore ones. Though what this effectively means is that the cost to me will probably go up by 3x. :cry :laughing

I'd still go with building your own. It will be cheaper to have it right. I built this AR as cheap as possible and purchased all of the upper parts at the SF gun show last year with a total cost of $500.

I think you'd both enjoy picking all the parts yourself and assembling it much more than just dropping money :2cents

How is $650 for a complete AR with scope not a screaming deal? Find me a $500 AR, anyone? That scope is easily $150. If it's the Thordsens FRS-15 stock, that's $140 right there.

Op, it's a deal! Buy it! If it's the FRS-15 stock it means you don't have to mess with a bullet button to drop mags. Make sure the barrel DOES NOT have a flash hider though.

The .223 Wylde is a hybrid chamber that was designed by Bill Wylde. It takes advantage of the .223 Remington chambers inherit accuracy without the pressure issues while shooting 5.56×45mm NATO. The Wylde chamber is used by a quite a few rifle manufacturers for their AR-15 barrels. So basically it is a .223 chamber that is designed to handle full NATO 5.56

Unless you both machined the lower, you didn't build anything. You assembled it.. :twofinger
