Anyone else traumatized by NZ videos?

BARF feels like watching an episode of Friends, supposedly based in NY, after 9/11. Life was portrayed on the show as if a calamity had never happened.

I had the misfortune of watching a 30 second clip of NZ muslim massacre and haven't been able to erase it from memory. And today's news of the youngest victim who was 3 year old when the gunman shot him dead just put me in major depression similar to that of post 9/11 when I spent days just staring at TV hoping I would wake up and the towers would still be standing :(

Am I the only one?

I try to avoid viewing videos of incidents like the NZ massacre. No upside. Watched a "fail" video on YouTube the other day where a refinery worker was cleaning, something ignited in the boiler, and blew him to smithereens. Truly bothered me for days. Wish it could be unseen. Will be more cautious about watching random videos.

No. I'm not. 9/11 was tougher, because my cousin is NYPD and went missing for 3 days, because he went to ground zero.

I did not watch the video. I understand why, of course, police investigators and detectives are going to watch the video. But for the ordinary public, there's not much information to be gained from watching the video. That video was made and indeed live streamed exactly so it would gather publicity and terrorize us.

I read the "manifesto" and watched the video.

I like to know the truth of what's out there in the world. It's often ugly and violent. Seen things that are hard to shake, but it's reality none the less.

Got posted in here a while back. Couple of cartel hitmen got executed by other hitmen...by way of chainsaw beheading. Dudes just sat there and took it. Didn't even flinch like they knew what was up because they'd done the same to others or something.

Yeah, skimmed the manifesto myself, haven't quite read the whole thing yet. Read enough to agree with one NZ news article's analysis that it was designed to cause further conflict and drama and is a total troll-piece though. I mean at one point he posts the whole "internet navy seal copy pasta" rant as a response to a hypothetical question / statement. He also says he could be equally defined as right or left wing depending on what the issue is / who's defining it, and there's far less crazy gibberish than you'd expect compared to what he wrote on his gear. From an analysis standpoint, he also has a decent bit of twisted logic embedded in it. And disclaimer for those aghast I could find any sort of logic in the rantings of a mass murderer - this is not new to me and I have a pretty decent military / law enforcement background. There is a lot of intelligence value to this guy's videos and posts that a number of people are digging through right now.

He literally fed political bait to people with it, and while Bud's warned us about posting political stuff in the sink, let's just say quite a few people are playing straight into the shooter's hands. 8chan is probably laughing their asses off right now. Which only means more people will be "inspired" by him and we'll see more copycats.

News agency's are more after shock value and click-bait than reporting the news. it's disgusting change to just taking something juicy without bothering to confirm if it's true or not.
