"But your honor... He's my son. He couldn't have done these horrible and outlandish crimes he's being accused of."

I don't hold it against her. She's like a lot of mothers and fathers who only want to think the best of their children. Maybe when she hears him or his co-defendants in court admit their collective guilt, if they ever do, she'll change her mind. A little anyway.

And isn't it in Dale Carnegie's book, "How to Win Friends and Influence People," that he wrote of one machine gun-toting gangster of the 1930s telling a reporter, "I'm really a good guy!"?

People are going to think whatever they want to think, even in the face of proof to the contrary.

"No he didn't, because he's my son," Berry said. "He's a loving child."

:rofl

Everyone's son is a loving child and everyone in jail is innocent... :rolleyes

is back in black.
Unless she has hard evidence that absolves Money Man; I don't think Oakland wants to hear what she has to say about her "loving child". She's a Mom; of course he's her loving child. :rolleyes

Of that 2.75 million how much went to lawyers and medical bills?
Did the reporter leave out some information?
My guess is he's a good boy around the house a mean MF out of Mama's sight.
Hope he is the bad guy these take over robberies have to stop!

I don't know a person in Oakland who is NOT celebrating. I went to the Nomad Cafe friday night to a celebration and fund raiser. The Nomad is one of the places that was taken over. These guys ( and the two men are both on parole, one of them is now a three striker) are not only criminal, they are criminally STUPID for robbing place where the take is $100-$400 bucks. I hope they had fun, they are going to be spending the next couple decades in jail.

And I'm wondering if we'll learn if the tipster sounded like an older Black woman?

"Leave a tip: The big break in the Oakland restaurant robbery spree came a week before three suspects were arrested Tuesday, when an anonymous call to the cops fingered Leon Luster as the leader.

The cops then shadowed Luster, found out whom he was hanging with and what kind of car he was driving.

When the call came in on a nail salon holdup Tuesday night in East Oakland, police knew whom to look for and what they were driving - and made the arrest within a half-mile of the crime" (SF Chronicle).

Oh yeah, they're good boys :darkangel

"known on the street as Money Man and Snotty, respectively, police said — were on parole for prior offenses"

"Lamonthe has seven prior felony convictions, mostly for possession of cocaine. Two of those convictions are for first-degree burglary. In August 2006, he was accused of crashing his car into his girlfriend's car, which was full of people, court records show. According to those records, he was charged with six felony counts for the incident, but pleaded down to a single domestic abuse charge when his girlfriend, now his wife, refused to testify."

Nail 'em up I say.

Wow. I have a side job as a bookeeper for a restaurant on the Oakland/Emeryville border. I hope this really is the end of the spree...

What is it with parent's accountability now-a-days? I know you dont WANT To face it, but, don't enable them by saying or acting in such a way.

My step dad was VERY clear with me "This house is not about innocent until proven guilty, it's about you're guilty until you can prove yourself innocent" I knew DAMN well anyone came to that door saying I had done something I didn't do I was SCREWED!

My mom was the same way, it wasn't "Not my child..." it was more like "what did he do now?" LOL.

I"m with the O/P - This is sickening. Open your eyes lady; they're caught red handed and they are CRIMINALS. I'm sorry for her tragic accident in '00 but, that doesn't make your child any less of a criminal.

Most of these "parents" are that in name only. They don't raise, nurture, teach, train or mentor their kids. The kids are just tickets for welfare

I've been expelled from a school for fighting, been in numerous bar fights (although I never started any of them to be honest), and been to Iraq and Afghanistan and did what my country asked of me there. My mother still thinks I'm a loving child too. Go figure.

:wtf that was VERY offensive there bud.
What was offensive? He's a convicted felon parolee. Nobody's speculating about that part. He's a POS.

As for the rest of it - yup. Not proven guilty until proven guilty. Innocent doesn't seem to factor in here.
