Hello barfers,

Its time! Im ready to hope on the infamous liter bike train.
But, before I pull the trigger on the bike Im looking at I really want to ride one just to be sure its the right one for me. Im looking at a 2014 cbr1000rr. There is a dealer in norcal with one that Id really like to take home but they dont allow test rides. My question is: Is there anyone out there that would let me take theirs for a spin around the block? I know its a bit unorthodox but before I drop 10k on a bike Id really like to ride one like it. So if there is anyone out there with a 08-16 cbr1000rr that would let me take it for a quick spin shoot me a message!

Thanks and speed safely!

If they won’t let you ride it with cash in hand I’d find a different shop. Or heck there’s a Sweet 2010 in the classified section with ohlins and Brembo calipers for half that price.

Is this thing really 10K?

Ya, it’s a sp model with 5k miles and a couple tasteful mods. From what I’ve seen it’s a pretty good price. Especially from a dealer

I’ve looked all over the Bay Area and a little less then half will let me test ride. I personally would like to go through a dealer because I’d like to finance.

Don't pay 10k for 1000RR... So many out there cheaper than that.

Also, don't bother with an 04 when you can easily get an 08+ model.

OP said 2014, not 2004...and didn't 2008 have engine issues?

Yikes. mis-read by me.

Fine. Don't get an 08. Get a 2010. 2011. 2012.

Not sure what the SP trim has over a base model but take that 2-3k savings and get some even better upgrades.

SP comes with Ohlins and Brembos, among other upgrades.

Well, have at it I suppose. I'd have a hard time spending 10k on a 5-6 year old Honda.

You don’t have to go through a dealer to finance a bike. Credit union banks are a good place to start. Atleast do yourself a favor and check the local rates. You don’t want to be rate hiked either.

I'm definitely a Honda fanboy, but at that price I'd get the Bimmer S1000rr. Don't euro dealers allow test rides too?

No offense OP, but I doubt anyone here is going to let someone with virtually no presence on this board (46 posts in 2.5 years) go ahead and ride around their 180hp superbike, especially when you consider that you openly admitted to having zero experience on one. Kudos to you for being honest, though.

Try looking into one of the daily motorcycle rental companies, I'm sure you can find one with a literbike available for rental.

A. That's a great bike.
B. Riding it around the block will tell you exactly nothing.
