For those of you who love a good clam chowder, we recently spent a few days in Pismo Beach and discovered Splash Cafe - possibly the best clam chowder we're ever had. Well, the Costco on Almaden Expressway in San Jose, and the one in Gilroy are now selling Splash Cafe clam chowder and it is just as good as what is served AT Splash Cafe! In Pismo you get to pay about $5 for a 4 ounce cup; at Costco you get to pay $13 for four 16 ounce pouches! If you haven't been to Pismo Beach and tried Splash Cafe you're missing out; if you have you need to stop by Costco and fill your freezer!

We have no connection to either Splash Cafe or Costco, other than being happy customers...

The seafood chowder at Miramar Beach restaurant near Half Moon Bay is pretty awesome.

Next time you’re in Pismo, hit up the Cracked Crab for some chowder and some crab.

Flaherty’s in Carmel is my chowduh go to...

Both flavors are excellent, but I do tend to go with the Manhattan style a bit more.

First off, New England Clam Chowder. Not that red crap. And, somewhere in there MUST be a grain of sand. Somehow, to me, the most satisfying part is the crunch from that grain of sand between your teeth that tells you its real and from the ocean. I know, I'm weird like that.

i like clam chowder and love it even more when i can sprinkle oyster crackers in there and let the cracker absorb all the flavor of the soup :drool we had a good relaxing time in Pismo Beach during a weekend getaway, another good reason to return is to go searchin for that soup!

I refuse to eat food from Costco. I like real food with known origins.
Costco Booze is ok.

I can afford to be a food snob. Your grandchildren might be doomed.

Love Clam chower, red or white.

As for Costco, they have some great meat and cheese selections.

Don't be so quick to judge. Costco has a reputation for choosing high quality products to stock their shelves.
