I'll be doing some much needed de-fubarring to cure some wiring and fairing hacking woes. Otherwise the beastie runs very nicely indeed.

Anyone else ride ancient V4 Muscle?

Check the cams and followers. They were known to have poor lubrication and poor surface hardening.

Nice, I was on the fence about a V65 or CBX when they were new. The 6 won me over. But that can't be an "ancient" bike. If it's old then so am I.

@Skip - yup. We're olde. :)

The cams look showroom new. This one has good oiling and enough miles that I'm confident that there are no problems looming.

Besides - it was free. :)

Oh, and thanks Discoganya for fixing my photo posting. I dunno why it wouldn't show the first time.

The last time I saw a V65 Sabre in the flesh it was being knocked over in the showroom of Steakley Honda in Waco, Texas by a little kid whose father wasn't paying enough attention to him. Costly mistake for the dealership. Got me a better deal on my leftover 81 Seca 750 with a few scratches though!

Like the Sabre, but was more partial to the V45/65 Magna's. The original Magna's were seriously cool bikes at the time.

I hope you're being facetious calling that "ancient".

Ancient would be a 1917 Indian PowerPlus with the electric lighting option.
A V65 Sabre just barely rates being called "old".

Damn lucky find nonetheless. I'm jealous.

Re Tired Not Dead
I'm both anxious and relieved that I can't ride it for a bit. I'm having my knee replaced in a few weeks and it is deep into the rainy season here in Astoria. Hopefully by the time I have it fully fettled my knee will be up to the task and I can go ride.

If I can't ride - I'll be selling it with first dibs to a gentleman in Seattle who already called it. Sloppy seconds to BARF of course.

Nice! I had a V45 Sabre back in the day and wanted a V65. My pops had a V65 Magna. I thought it was really, really fast. My, how things have changed.

Re Tired Not Dead
While they're not on the bike at present - I even have the ultra-rare lowers for that Hondaline fairing. I'll be putting them on after I finish cleaning up the wiring harness and doing a deep cleaning. The list of 'things to do' is remarkably short, as is the 'I need these parts" list. It's actually great timing that I'm going to be laid up for a month or two while I heal up. I can tinker and fiddle and ruminate without guilt.

My first bike was a v45.

Recommend: Start looking/buying ignition modules now, so you have spares handy. When they start flaking out it's a pain in the ass.
