Long story short, I'm on a lot of drugs(in hospital), wrecked bike going into a blind corner... Low sided into a guardrail at 50mph lucky I didn't die, got a life flight and I made it out with just a shattered femur that was sticking out through my skin...

What the fuck do I do now. I feel like I just want to keep taking the strongest drugs to deal with it is that good? Anyone give me advice on what to do? I'm pretty much happy I'm just here for another day. Will be giving up riding more then likely. Ummmmm lets see that's abut it. I'm a blessed dude and have an amazing girlfriend on my side willing to fight through this with me

EDIT: PICS ADDED... if anyone is really interested in my tattoo I can send better resolution shots of it. Has been my main goal in the past 6 months. Got a piece of every bike I have owned on my arm.

Killing time while it knits over the next couple months will be brutal. Find ways to still your mind and be distracted. In the near future, the pain will become bearable. Man your way through till that point, then start working on being patient and keeping yourself entertained. Books, TV, Video games, puzzles, whatever gets you. Glad you pulled through without meeting the Sausage Monster. I'm glad be only bit your leg.

Sorry to hear. That sucks. Take the meds if you need em. Get off them as soon as you possibly can. Theyre horrible drugs and will only hinder you long term.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
When you can , take the time to stand up...don't have to put weight on the broken leg but keep the blood flowing...you'd want to take it slow at first cuz it will feel like hot water running down your legs ...

As for giving up riding...should we expect you on dirt roads by winter? :p

Haha naw I think I'm tapped out for awhile. Almost 25, I have so much to live for and I have continually proven to myself I am not responsible. I keep getting up every 3 hours to go pee. Gravity sucks, on top of that I am just settling back in after yet having another blood transfusion. God I would never want to be a nurse, doctor, or any Type of medical physicist (would make me depressed than the actual person them self lol)

Been exactly there, done exactly that. Hopefully you got lucky and got a good surgeon on call at the time who did the work. Did they put a rod in it from knee to hip, or just pin it?

I had a bad break (big butterfly fracture) and a bit of a difficult recovery, bone wouldn't heal, eventually had to go to a stimulation, which did the trick, but it took a long time. But my situation was unusual. They typically heal in 8 weeks, so it shouldn't been too bad for you.

On the pain meds side, I though I was getting addicted to Vicodyn because a few weeks after the accident, when I went back to work, I literally couldn't function without them. If I didn't take a pill every few hours I just felt so bad all over, was really tense, etc. Told the Doc I thought I was having withdrawals when I tried to stop taking them. He told me no, that it was the fact that my body used up all its adrenalin reacting to the accident and that I would feel like shit for about 6 months while my body built the stores back up. Literally six months to the week, I felt fine and stopped pain med cold turkey with no issue.

BTW, in my other accident, this past Christmas, they gave me roxycontin, one of the new opiates, instead of Vicodyn. I/my body did not like it at all. They told me they preferred the other because it didn't have acetominfen in it, so they could also give me Tylenol. I made them switch my back to Vicodyn.

Ask for stronger drugs. Or keep taking them every 4 hours like they say even if it doesn't hurt at the time. Sorry to hear you crashed :(

How's the bike :D

That sounds like a horrible crash man. Really happy to hear you will recover. Very tough road ahead. I have nothing to offer on pain med advice take whatever the hell helps in the initial stages!
Sounds like Archimedes is your man for advice/guidance.

Care to share the details on the crash?

Heal fast rider.

please tell me it wasn't that damn rear tire that bit you??

hope you get through the hard part unscathed:thumbup
pain meds are there for a reason...try and get to sleep after a bit without them and you'll see that you really do need them.

getting up and letting the blood flow will feel really good once you get used to not putting any weight on your leg and, once you have the strength to move your self back and forth....take it slow!

edit: i volunteer to do a ride by so you can remember what it's like to do wheelies...if you need the motivation to ever get back into riding:teeth
