AFM Lap Records

Official AFM lap records.

When I was walking through the pits on Sunday, Andy Palmer mentioned that it was difficult to determine lap records for the AFM and the tracks we run. I thikn it would be pretty cool to have that on the AFM website. I don't know all that would be involved in keeping it up; however, I think it would be a nice touch.

We talked about it and started to compile stuff last season, before we knew the pain in modifying the site. Now that Geoff's on it, we can get back on it.

You can start by penciling in ALL the 650 lap records set by Jason Catching. Production records on a Catching Competition built bike and all others set riding an AP Moto Arts built monster! :teeth

I think it is a great idea!

If someone can get me the list/history of lap records by class and year I can very easily create a section for that on the website. All that I need is the info to get this done.

I just finished getting a list of top racers from 1998 - 2014 in place so this would be the next logical step.

It might make sense, Sears Point has had so many configurations since the AFM started racing it that I'm not sure anyone actually remembers them all. There was even an interim course when the Old SP was being upgraded to new SP. It lasted less than one season IIRC.

in the 78' AMA National, King Kenny Roberts did a 144.8 on the "old" track on his Daytona "stroker" bike (500gp bike stroked/bored to 680cc's.) I'll never forget the sound of that thing topped out in T1/T9...wow!

That record stood for a long time/like 8 years IIRC.

I remember racing on that one, think it was one race only. Turn right somewhere in turn 9 and cut to turn 1.
Quick count I raced 5 different Sears :)
