ADV/DS ride Lake Berryessa/Knoxville OHV/Rayhouse Rd.

Still waiting on a part from the dealer... should be able to make it, but I dont have too much more than 100 mile range per tank. Is that going to be an issue?

No issue. primary refueling point is Cache Creek Casino: 80 miles from start point. Alternative is Lower Lake junction CA-29/CA-53 75 miles from start point.

We often have plated bikes (truck/trailer in) at the Start point or one of the checkpoints. No problem making the Cache Creek refuel point. Paul plans to ride his TE630 so you Husky guys can share parts. What no Husky Moab/Pismo Beaches?

Check out Dean's Maxxis Goldspeed Supermotard rain tires! and the massive front rotor... he paid for that a bit later...

Matt and I want to try and make this ride - I'm having a tough time with the 15% dirt (only 15%?? :huh), but it would be fun to meet more bay area ADVers.

Question 1: Has anyone tried to get to Jerusalem Grade from Knoxville? Is it possible?

There are a few tiny tracks that seem like they *might* get over there, but it doesn't look great...

Just trying to eke out a little more dirt...:D

Most of the dirt purist peel off at Knoxville OHV to find the single tracks and gnarly routes (making the ride 80% dirt)... the ADV riders stick to the route... and there is always opportunity to just stay on the slab... something for any level of experience/comfort. The location is close enough for Bay Area and Sac riders, plus we avoid the crowds at Hollister/Carnegie/Frank Raines (which we ride every 4th Sunday of the month)

I really want to go on this but will be out of town this weekend. Is this a Monthly thing? I just got a dual sport and it would be good to go with people that actually know what they are doing...

What's the deal with the trail ratings out there? I haven't found a map that rates the trails.

We've scheduled for Saturday April 7th to free up Easter Sunday. We schedule this ride on the second Sunday every month...same meet up place, same meet up time...pending weather.

Chris - I don't think I've ever seen the trails rated out in Knoxville. Are you riding with us on Saturday? Bring the DR... Stiffler is coming down from Sacramento, and Blue-8 up from MountainView.

The tracks seem much more 'natural' than Carnegie or Frank Raines.

Catfish posted these .gpx tracks for Knoxville OHV: http://www.gpsxchange.com/phpBB2/vie...5a691685ec182f

Buck Island is a great spot for lunch and a swim in Cache Creek.

Looks like I'm in. I'll be with the group from Sac ADV riders (SCR).

We have all rode this area so there wont be any problems.

Iceman9r on a Cagiva Elefant, GoNotShow on a 2012 Super Tenere 1200, HIglesias on a Steamer Tiger, and four or more KTM Adventures!

Exotics...Impressive!

All y'all owe me... payback is posting vids, pics, opinions on this thread... the ride isn't done after sunset.

I'm leaving from the inner Richmond. Heading over the GG bridge to the meeting point at hwy121 and hwy128.
Don't make much sense to head over to the east bay from where I'm at. Let me know if anyone wants to head out together.

Cool. See you then.

I thought about going that route and meeting at Poseurs. I figured I'd just slab it and come back the GG route. I know Henry is in your neck of the woods though.

the ride isn't done after sunset.

Actually what time have you guys been finishing up?

Usually back at start point by 2:30PM if noone settles in for a romantic 2-hour lunch...

Anyone in a rush? Just break away at any of the checkpoints, so hypothetically you'll be done at 9AM if you bail at the Startpoint; 10:30AM if you make CP1 and back (all slab); 12:30 if you make CP2 and back (all slab); 1:30 at CP3 and back, etc.

Oh that's early. I may go explore some more. :teeth

I just wanted to know so I can figure out which helmet setup I need. My DS helmet has a tinted visor that cannot easily be switched. I wouldn't want to bring that one if I was riding home after dark. Sounds like it is not a problem though :thumbup

This ride is shaping up to have the potential to be a Grade A Clusterfuck©. But yet, I'm perversely drawn to it like an offer of free admission to a midget muy thai match.

I'd be inclined to cross the GGB and head straight to the knoxville ohv area to keep the clusterfuckage to a minimum. 8am depart from the GGB north vista?

Maybe something like this route
