ABS yes/no

I have found myself in lust, as spring spews forth so much with floral beauty this year.
The reason for lust is the new versions of the Mini Trail 50, or Monkey bike.
I have myself talked into this, reasoned it all out, fairly certain it will happen.
My dilemma, I want the candy red one, but it comes with front ABS, Bananna Yellow, regular brakes.
As a dirt bike rider, I'm having questions on how ABS will affect my riding in dirt, can I get the brake to lock up when I need it to.
Rolling downhill slowly backwards, will the front brake lock up?
Will it ever lock up rolling forward? Forward lock up with the key off?
Anybody running a Grom with ABS?

Spring time lust, and I'm stuck on brakes, , ,??

my only experience is with ABS on-road and on larger bikes. I've used it a few times a year in emergency stops (front and rear) and have been grateful to have it.

The ABS on the Grom is only on the front brake, so you can still lock the rear if you need to.

Whatever that means
For me, myself, personally. Mostly no. I ride like an asshole and like to brake like one. I'm mostly a fair weathered rider to boot so i don't really need it for the wet either. I've hated every ABS system I've had so far. fingers crossed for the future. If i had a longer commute and commuted in the rain I would use the ABS for wet days, but for my short city commute and for weekend fun I prefer without it.

yes to all three. ABS usually does not function below 6mph or so, and definitely not with the key off.

Yes BUT the bikes I have with it are "adventure" bikes and they have buttons to turn it off. You need that in the dirt.

Too much lean angle...
Soon enough cornering ABS and a suite of electronics far past traction control will be on every bike. Would have saved a bunch of squids in the 00 sportbike days.

For street riding, which is all I did, ABS was a must in my book. And the ABS on the early ST1100 (no linked brakes) worked flawlessly.

Yeah there is no real downside to having ABS. You can always pull the fuse if you don't like it.

ABS is like a condom. Better to have one and not need it than to not have it and to need one.

ABS is like a shotgun. Better to have one and not need it than to not have one and then to need it.

...

I can tell you it was handy commuting on the panigale this week!
