A rather unusual request for help

Re Tired Not Dead
So, this has bupkiss to do with motorcycles - other than the fact that I commute darn near every day on one to my store. And I've belonged to BARF for...uh...a long time.

But it does have to do with a request for a helping hand. Something that I'm not very good at asking for, that help thing.

Here's the deal - My wife and I own a small retail hemp specialty products store (aka clothing, food and body care products) here in Portland. We've applied for a $150,000 competitive grant. Step 1 was easy peasy and we've qualified to move on to step 2. Which means we need to get votes through Facebook on our grant page.

Here's where you, my dear BARFers can help. Right now we have 132 votes out of a minimum 250 required to go on to step 3. Will you help? Will you help big? Please? The more votes we get, the more likely we are to get the attention of the screening panel.

Go to the link - give us a vote while you're logged into your Facebook account and as I already am, I will remain forever in your BARFiest debt.
Thank you. Islemann / Michael Pierce, Oregon Division - BARF

Thanks! Every vote counts, we only have 10 days, as small as our business is - I'm really concerned we won't reach the goal.

Yay! Ya'll are making a difference. Our plans (should we be awarded the grant) are to accomplish some really major stuff.

With just $150,000 (insert image of sad eyed puppy here) We're going to be able to fund the production of our "Hemp Works" line of men's and women's casual clothing right here in Portland.

(insert image of hungry half naked orphan children here) We'll also be able to fund our e-commerce store - something that we've desperately needed but have simply been unable to do so far due to under-funding issues.

(insert image of beer swilling Bavarian Wimmen...no, wait...wrong image...uh...image of melting polar ice cap) The last leg of the stool is the hiring of staff for the store and the web ops.

In all seriousness - my Judy and I have been working our asses off for the last nearly 4 years, we haven't taken a dime from the store for our personal use. Everything has gone right back into the growth of the store and expansion of inventory. The good news is that we own everything in the store but the consigned art. Plus we have no long term debt. The bad news is that we are barely squeaking by as we prepare to go into our 5th year of business.

Getting this grant - would be enormous. Simply put - enormous.

149. I keep meaning to make it up to your store, but I've just been too busy. Now that the riding season is all but over for me that should finally change. :)
