Yep; them K81's were damn good tires too. Nice & predictable back in the day....speaking of which, reminded me of a Frankie Mazur moment:

I asked old Frankie once (~78' @ Alice's) why he was running "slicks" (worn out K81's), he proudly proclaimed "once they wore like that, they stick better, like racing slicks." (spoken w/huge ear to ear grin/tilted head looking me right in the eye, w/a look that said "you should know this!")

I asked "even w/some cords showing"? (me pointing out rear tire cords in center of tire...) "Ah that just to lets me know when there's less than a 100 miles left, they start making noise & sparking really good!"

I walked away shaking my head while he laughed loudly; & everyone else within earshot rolling eyes/heads & snickering too. You had to be there...

I still miss lil' Frankie... :cry

Frankie was a one off. I remember him walking through the pits like a little banty rooster and if you didn't step aside he'd grin and bump into you hard. He was fun and he loved life. Fuck I wonder how many people on BARF even know who Frankie is.

Dennis he was a monster on any bike for sure! He owned 250 Prod for years but he ran with the fast guys when he rode big bikes. I liked him a lot.

Hehe. On that day above, he was riding a 76' CB750 I4 Honda. He hauled butt on that big bike too...

I went over to talk to him after he passed me during a race, he said something about he'd been doing this racing thing for awhile now. :laughing
