Moab on my mind
There's no reason for the gun in the video to be 9 Major as far as competition rules, or Hollywood blanks. It would make a nice steel gun or 3 gun pistol with 9 Minor ammo.

9mm Major is for USPSA/IPSC Unlimited division as in your picture, with a compensator and red dot sight.

The only problem with those pistols is that it usually puts you in unlimited and those guys are seriously good.

The main guy in our USPSA group runs unlimited and I have shot his gun he does hot .38 loads to make major. That thing is loud and the comp pushes serious air back at you.

You do get a boost in scoring for shooting major though but I think they are going to/have changed that is USPSA. It's been about 3 months since I have shot so am not up on the rule changes for this year yet.

I would probably get one but damn a $2K starting price is crazy.

Basically a Limited gun not allowed in Limited, heh.

Neat gun. It's a bit of a poseur gun, imo. Getting that Wick fan money.

Don't mean to imply Taran is a poseur. He's a amazing shooter and grandmaster, and a solid master in marketing as well!

What this says indirectly is that most folks need to run awhile and train and practice up before the gun they're using is the thing that's holding them back.

I always appreciated the anecdote about Troy Corser when he started road racing (and he started road racing late). Simply, he figured as long as there were folks that were faster on his bike than he was, he didn't need a new bike to get faster. He always looks inward first.

Or, as I think Luddington said once (Duhamel's crew chief at the time) "The easiest thing to replace on the bike is the rider. (While pointing at Miguel and smiling...)"

All that said, of course, don't let that stop anyone from getting something like this. It doesn't mean they're not fun and different to shoot.

Nah, just a bunch of old iron sight shooters who need bifocals now and can't focus on the front sight any more. :teeth

Ha, I don't think you can even get the bare parts for $2K. Mine pictured lists for $6K. Taran's gun in the video is $4K and it's not even an Unlimited gun.

Your right. I did some browsing the other day and $4K seems to be a start nowadays. That is crazy expensive so I will just keep shooting my M&P 2.0.

$4K in ammunition and range time will make you a much better shooter on your M&P than a new pistol will.
