Hello fellow motorcyclists, I am hoping to put together a large group of motorcyclists together to show some support for a friend that may be at the tail end of her fight with cancer. If you want to ride with us or are a survivor or are involved in some way with somebody that survived or is suffering, or if you have a story to share, we'd love to have you. Even if you have never had cancer and want to show support for somebody facing a tough reality. Sharon is a wonderful person who has been bedridden for many months now, and her hospice bed showed up last week. It's not looking very good for her.

I am planning a fun street bike ride for all levels and types of riders that will finish up at Hobees in Los Gatos for lunch. Sharon will be driven to the restaurant by her son shortly after we arrive. All I ask from you is to show up on your motorcycle, enjoy a fun ride through the hills, and then have lunch with a special lady to let her know that she’s not alone. Even when she’s stuck in her room she will remember that there are people out there thinking of her. If you’d like, you are also welcome to share your stories and support with Sharon, as I’m sure that there are those of you with big hearts that can bring a smile to a perfect stranger that could really use it.

RSVP NEEDED:
Please ping me directly with the number of your group so that I can accommodate you.

MEET UP DATE/TIME:
Saturday July 13th, Arrive between 9:45 and 10:00, as we’ll be leaving a few minutes after 10 o’clock.

LOCATION:
We will meet up at the Union 76 Station in Saratoga at the corner of Hwy 9 and Saratoga/Sunnyvale Road.
Address: 14395 Big Basin Way Saratoga, CA 95070

If you can’t make the ride, please join us at Hobees in Los Gatos by 12:00 sharp, where we will meet Sharon and her son.

Hobees of Los Gatos
165 Los Gatos Saratoga Rd.
Los Gatos, CA 95030

Thank you!

Damn. I'm on call that day, otherwise, I'd be down to ride. I'll see if I can head out to be at Hobees in Los Gatos by noon.

Interested, but my brain keeps telling me I'm busy on Saturday. If it doesn't interfere with pre-made plans, I'll roll out there.

Sorry I have plans but would like to throw this out there. 2 years ago I was a stem cell donor for someone with Leukemia. It was very easy and that person is now going on 2+ years. It is like winning the lotto to be a match, and was the most rewarding thing I've done in my life. I have not worked with the bay area stem cell sign-up, but the City of Hope must have one here. Takes only 5 mins to sign up, and you could save a life.

Please sign up :thumbup

i spam this shit outta this on my facebook, and criticize all my friends and coworkers when they "check in, like" locations and food they have eaten/been

i tell them use social media for the greatness it can be, and not spread idiotic retardation about liking checkin in and pop media culture....

so much epic fail for my generation and they dont even realize it

i also spam kiva.org, and other charities that when you "click" LIKE it actually donates $$$$ towards something, a click that saves lives or gives back to the unfortunate, who coulda thought of that using facebook for the greater good

My brother in law is recovering from a bone marrow transplant too, he came down with Leukemia earlier this year, it's been whooping his ass. he's down in Los Gatos in the hospital apts recovering..

My sister is also a cancer survivor..

I probably won't make it because I'm horribly disorganized but send my best.

Hi everybody, thanks for the replies and yes the ride and lunch is still happening. I would personally appreciate anybody that shows up (so far I only have confirmations from 2 people and my photographer).

If anybody is thinking of coming please let me know or post here.

By the way, the ride route will be 9 Saratoga to Boulder Creek, Bear Creek Rd to 17, then Hobees in Los Gatos at 12:00.

Thanks!

My thoughts go out to your friend and her familly. While I wont be there, I understand her situation.

My wife of 23 yrs has cancer in her brain, lungs & back. Her Dr.'s just stopped all chemo and radiation. While she is still mobile, her time is very short. Thankfully, our children are strong beyond belief, much more than me. Everytime I walk by the fridge and see the DNR notice, it hits home.

Your a good man for helping your friend.

I don't even know what to say. :( Life, while so beautiful , can be so cruel too.
I will think of your little family, your wife and you as well in this time and imagine the beautiful life lived to date with high hopes that there is something more beautiful to come.
