Glad to hear you are ok. I'm not sure if you know but the next few days are going to be more painful then the crash day so make sure to hydrate and rest. You earned it!

How is your mindset? Are you hanging up your moto gear or are you looking for a new bike?

Not as fast as I look.
Yes, it has finally happened after 50 years of riding. Riding along 2nd street in sf, headed to the bridge around 6:45 pm. ..... blah, blah, blah .......
I am very sore but the pain meds are starting to kick in. Going home soon.

Man, what is going on here? Not a word about the bike? What do you think this is, a Prius forum? How's the poor machine, buddy? :twofinger

I am glad that you got off relatively easy. :ride
(Think about a crash analysis, later. They can be helpful to others.)

and this is what wear gear is all about.. bumps and bruises heal, bones, pins, etc..well thats another story. Glad your ok, I dont think many of us can say we've been accident free 50 years even in a cage. Heal up, get back in the saddle. Oh, btw..have some friends get your bike, and bring it to you. Dont stress your body more than it is. Soft tissue damage hurts like hell, and may get worse before things start to settle down.

Yes, the driver stopped and waited with me, and was questioned by the police. I think a couple of witnesses stepped forward too

That's a major plus. Hope that everyone does the right thing, and you don't have any insurance headaches when you leave...

I echo what was said before - don't be in a big rush to get out of the hospital, make sure you're okay. Especially the brain part of you.

And when they go over the bit on the opiate pain meds insert that warns you about constipation, they're not joking around. :|

Amazing, 50 years without an off.

Now that's some superior judgement right there. :applause :applause

Hope the pain subsides, the injuries are minor and the cager has great insurance to get you back on the road feeling better than ever!

Dude....that sounds bad. I am sure you'll get plenty of advice but here is mine anyway:

1. Make sure you are able to get a statement in to the police report, otherwise the woman who hit you will just say you were breaking the law and ...

2. Get a lawyer!

3. Get a lawyer!

Get well soon!

By the way... I went about 30 years without a bump, then I had a series of things occur as soon as I moved to SF.

It sounds like he hasn't had a chance to see it yet. The body first, the bike will follow.

Heal up soon. Glad it wasn't any worse than it was. I'm not far behind you age wise.....accident wise is another story.:laughing

#1. Take care of yourself. Glad to hear you are doing relatively well. Be careful on the pain meds.

Heal up and let us know when your back on a MC.

Glad you're basically ok! 50 yrs is a long time being crash free. When I started riding I think it took ~ 1 yr before I lowsided my bike and mildly bumped into a curb after sliding a bit.

Then it was about 12 yrs until I got a tankslapper on Hwy 17 and got thrown off... that's it, so far....

50 years crash free on a bike is a mighty accomplishment. May you heal well-I can say from my own wreck last year that the road to healing is rough, but incredibly worthwhile. Also you have to build it by hand with a pickaxe and the help of your loved ones, docs, and friends. ;)
