What does barf do for your 2nd or 3rd incomes.

Serious thread if possible, I'd like to do stuff legally that includes filing taxes for the extra income. :x

I need a 3rd income, I have a day job and a real estate agent as well. My 2nd income is not stable

I make a bit on the stock market, completely passive income and long term investments. Otherwise, single income.

How about becoming a home/commercial property inspector? With that experience later on you can buy up commercial properties knowing what's a good/bad buy structurally.

Great ideas,

was wondering how much the farmers market people pull every sunday.

a few stands drag out kettle corn/cotton candy/home baked goods setup right next to all the fruits/veggies stands

Let's see here.

I have a ranch that brought in a good income until I switched crops. It is an excellent tax write off as we can move/delay income from the sale of the crop, and farming can incur quite a few expenses and it has a great depreciation schedule. This has helps us save a ton on taxes from our regular w2 jobs. Not sure if this is an option for you..

We do Airbnb at our employee housing facility. Helps offset our harvest labor.

And of course the startup which is nothing but expense right now.

It's really not how much you make, focus on how much you retain after taxes...

I always wanted to be a inspector/appraiser. The brokerage always tell me it's 100+ applicants to 1-2 spots every like 10+ years

I need a in somehow, like know the guy/gal, how does one land those jobs. They are rarely advertised and once a brokerage opens and fills the spot they don't have high turn around rates

Aren't property inspector's/pest inspectors recommended to buyers through the real estate agents?

I know that is how we ended up with ours, then they're first in line for doing the repairs since they already know the property and the issues and both do work, though I have a strong feeling that the pest inspection company subs out the repair work that they include with the report and more than twice the rate that you'd pay if you found somebody to do it yourself.

Yes and your usually a senior partner in the brokerage family member are the appraiser and inspector. The pest and other foundation/soil reports are through other companies/entities as well, but sometimes related as well

My brain does poorly switching gears, so I just try to get real good at the one thing I am doing and do that more. Lots of "lost" time switching between different jobs that you don't get paid for.

Have yet to find a second job that would make more sense than just putting in a few more hours at my primary job, but I'm self employed and can work more or less as I want.

Appraisers and inspectors are (theoretically at least) independent. If you want to become one get lisenced and hang out a shingle, might succeed, might not.

I was working on a project where we had an hourly paid helper who had child support and several other bills he was having trouble paying.
Dude decided he needed a second job so gets one washing dishes at a restaurant. He'd finish 5pm with us and start 7pm at the restaurant working an additional 2 hours.
Bizarre thing is he could have stay at our project and worked an additional 2 hours at overtime rate and be off by 7pm.

Can't imagine working an entire shift at one job and then heading to another. Respect to those who do but I'll cut my expenses or move wherever I have to on the planet so I don't have to work two jobs, knock on wood.

It's not so bad as long as you don't have to get up too early. Working until 11pm at an easy job just uses the time you sit on your ass at home anyway.

Just don't sit on your ass at home. Go to the gym, play a musical instrument, take classes...
All the things that sound cool to say but I don't do myself :teeth

That sounds like working harder, not smarter.
