2011 ZX10R Clutch Question

So in gears 3rd 4th high rpm over 9k clutch slips. Oil is full syn 15W40 MA and MA2. Jaso1 and 2.

There are two spacer washers that should go in the back of the pack, who ever worked on it before placed them between the clutch pack (dumb as hell imo)

I have two questions. One, the rings go behind the pack with the cone base shape ring on top facing outward correct?

Second, how does the clutch fiber and plates look, no sign of burning.

Thinking of just getting 20% stiffer springs and try.

Thanks in advance.

Busy Little Shop

Man behaving bikely...
High mileage not synthetic oil is the observed cause of clutch slippage...
Follows the steps to service your clutch...

First inspect the friction plates for glazing... make sure you have plenty
of material to work with... your shop manual states clutch thickness
in thousands of an inch or mm...

Next removed the contaminants with Acetone... pick a hard surface to lay
over a 600 grit black dry emery paper... rotate the clutch plate in a
circle... you're just busting the glaze... don't get carried away
remove too much material... You should end up with a friction plate
looks dull like a new one as opposed to a shinny glazed one... recheck
thickness...

Finally check the pressure plates for bluing caused by localized heat...
make sure they are not warped... consult the manual for a thickness
range... now removed the contaminants with Acetone and wire wheeled
them to erased the blue and also to generally scuff up the surface...
you should end up with a dull surface free of Blue marks...

Follow the diagram to assemble your clutch...

a visual inspection means very little. your FSM will have a thickness measurement for each friction plate and for the entire stack. if those are within range, the steels are flat, theres no damage to anything including the basket, and its assembled correctly - it won't slip.

Q1, Finally went with an after market stack, 24h soak in oil, after all done, clutch was dragging badly all cable adjustment maxed out. (rookie mistake) didnt measure the stack 1st time. stack 4mm+ higher, I need to be at 53.5mm is it even acceptable to take a steel and fiber out to be at 53mm?

Q2, The Rod (that pulls the pack) is brown color, dryer than I imagined. book refers to greasing, has wear on its edges its shiny is that normal?

So opened the cover again noticed rocking outer clutch basket, took out the inner hub which has 0 play, rivets tight and strong (thinking of welding them but worry about the hubs balance) the needle and bearing play, hard to tell if the basket is bad, will order the bearing if play goes away good if not a basket will be needed, too.

Get an OEM clutch kit

I wouldn’t expect anything to rock if the clutch is assembled correctly. It’s obviously not assembled correctly with a stack height way out of range.

I prob can’t help more. You may have damage. Im sure you know stuff won’t work properly with damage.

Outer basket is lose, due to bearing (aka basket shaft bushing needle pack) its on order non related to clutch pack, after markets tend to sit higher.
