- Year/Make/Model: 2005 GMC Savana 2500 cargo van, 4.8L V8, 285hp/295 ft-lbs, max 3,254 lbs payload. More specs here: https://www.edmunds.com/gmc/savana-cargo/2005/van/features-specs/
- Mileage: 36,526 (super low original miles)
- Pictures: https://www.flickr.com/gp/roboto/227Sia (for some reason the photos appear upside down when I attach them to the post).
- Title: I have the title in hand
- Price: $9,500 (Kelley Blue Book for private sale is $9,447 for Very Good condition (without the security gate option, which mine has). I’ve seen dealers charge $11k for ones with 120K miles.). I also have two metal shelves that came with the security gate package, you can see them in the photos on the Flickr listing. I took them out to make more room for bikes, but for a long time had one of them installed and it was very handy. You can still fit one bike and gear with that shelf installed, but wouldn’t fit two bikes.
- Current condition: Very good to excellent. Only minor wear and tear, scuffs on bumpers and some light scratches on the right rear corner.
- Maintenance history: Always serviced by dealer. Don’t have all of the records but the van is being serviced this week and will include the clean bill of health from that service. Always passed smog without issues.
- Accident history: No accidents (I have clean CARFAX report run 3/27/17). Rear door and rear panels were dinged up over the years from loading/unloading bikes and just being parked in San Francisco. All dents were removed and paint issues taken care of.
- Location: Southwest Berkeley near San Pablo Park. I work in Pleasanton so I could drive it to work near 580/680 interchange if you want to see it there, otherwise come by Berkeley. in evenings or mornings (or anytime during weekend).
I bought this van when I was racing AFM and needed a secure bike hauler after my old van was broken into. This one has no windows in the cargo area and a metal security divider with locked door between the cabin and cargo area, so no one can see in or get into the cargo area even if they break into the cabin. I got it new in late 2005 and it has almost exclusively been driven from SF/Berkeley to the track. Very low miles as I only drove it on race weekends and for track days. By comparison the only 2005 model I can find on Craigslist has 132K miles on it, and I’ve seen newer model years with up 200K miles. With only 36K miles this one is almost new by comparison.
Because of the closed up cargo area you can safely leave your bike and all of your gear overnight, which is a nice bonus over a pickup truck. The cargo floor has a thick rubber covering that’s held up perfectly and absorbed fluid spills and typical bike/gear related abuse without problems. At the track I'd sometimes sleep in there with a sleeping bag and it worked great. The internal frame spars have multiple cutouts on all sides, perfect for attaching tie-downs to secure your bike and cargo. It will easily hold one bike and all of the gear you need for a weekend of racing (canopies, generators, stands, coolers, toolbox, spare parts, and all your gear), and you can fit two bikes and gear as long as you get creative. I’ve had two Aprilia Tuono’s side by side with their wide handlebars, and it was a bit of a puzzle but we made it work. Two race bikes or clip on bikes will fit easily.
I’m rarely doing track days these days and the van is sitting around collecting dust outside the house, so hoping it will go to a good home and get used properly. It’s been a great and complete trouble free companion. PM or text 415-290-6030 for more information.
