2005 cbr 1000 fuel question

So... my friend was riding his bike and he ran out of gas!!:laughing:laughing. He called me up to get him some gas. So after i put the gas in the tank and tried to start it but it wouldnt start. Lights are on, battery is good, fuses are good, starter is good. It's cranking over but not starting.We had to tow it home. We took off the tank cover to get to the intake to spray brake cleaner and it started up fine but once we stop spraying to die out.

What could be the problem?

this is how that system works.. fuel is pumped into the rail, the motor uses what it can and circulates back into the tank. So.. cycle the ing on and off; listen for the pump to stop and start... eventually all the air will work it's way out.

Just keep cranking it over.

Running a fuel injected bike out of gas is very bad for the fuel pump. The reason is the fuel cools the pump, and being run out of fuel it is entirely possible that the pumpis fried.
