We are in phase 2 of the effort and it is moving quickly.
Here is the info on the concept: http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=242460
We have locked in 1Rider as the name of the effort. You will see the first outing on Memorial Day weekend.
One near Alice's and one in the East Bay, likely the junction.
We have decided that selling anything is not the deal. Selling safety is 100% our goal. We will figure out how to fund the effort in otherways. We will try to market Squid2.0 to local stores in the hot riding spots to do that and have already had a sponsor or two step up to say they will sell product to help. :cool
We have had a good response from the membership in terms of volunteers. We are getting close to organizing teams and have identified what we need to purchase to get us set. We will continue to evolve as time goes. I hope those that may snub us.. will give us a few months to get it right.. or better yet.. do something yourself!
I have had a personal battle with being totally prepared so the E-thugs have no :blah :blah :bs :bs to hold against us, but at the same time have a sense of urgency to get us going. We have the pressure of a date set now.. so we will do the best we can to be there and broadcast the message.
The message is simple.. "Ride smart today... ride again tomorrow.. Get home SAFE"
The urgency is here in many ways... and barf IMO has a duty to help Police our own. To increase the awareness of our own that we affect our families, our neighbors, the residents of where we ride and our fellow riders by not being sane on the road. We must educate our new riders that the motorcycles of today are in so many cases expert only hardware capable of so much more than our skillset and yet hard edged and unforgiving in the hands of someone new to riding or just getting back on after a while in a cage. Also to make the experienced think twice.. think about that little girl at home that wants to see her Daddy at the end of the day... and on and on..
With our group of volunteers and their passion we will touch some. We will have an effect. That is why we chose 1Rider. We want to say that we influenced;
1Rider
to get the proper training
to get the proper gear
to take it to the track instead of HWY 9
to check their six, while on a group ride
....to make it home safe.
We intend to work this effort with you, the CHP, the neighborhood groups and others in the community that have seen the darkside of our sport... felt the impact.. felt the loss.. felt the shock of what happens when things go wrong.
This will not make everything perfect... but as long as we reach 1Rider and they make it home safe.. it will be worth the effort.
www.1rider.org will be the home of this effort.. don't bother.. empty space for now.. but soon, with the help of many good people we will have a solid effort in the BA to make a difference.
Heck I am proud of just trying and the folks that have stepped up to do so.
Can't wait until we touch a few on Memorial day and just 1Rider feels us and their life is changed forever.
