I'm finally selling my 1992 Honda ST1100 ABS. It's been a good friend but I've neglected it in recent years and life decisions mean I likely won't be riding again, at least for a long time.
First off, this is a mechanic's bike and not for anyone who doesn't have experience wrenching. The bike has been sitting now for over 8 years. I did go through the carbs about a year ago and got it running but I didn't resync the carbs and I also didn't replace the rubber boots that hold them to the heads. It was running well enough, though, for a short ride of a few miles. Now, since it's been sitting again, I need to, at the very least, drain all old gas and add new gas. I may have to open the carbs again but I doubt that will be necessary to get the bike running as when I opened them up a year ago, there really wasn't any gunk in them. I did add new float needle valves and new float bowl gaskets. The slide diaphragms are in good shape and the jetting has been changed to Canadian specs plus I raised the stock needles 0.5mm with some custom machined washers.
The bike has almost 87,000 miles on it which is nothing for a Honda ST1100. They typically go 200,000+ miles. It's always had a diet of Redline full synthetic engine oil and might burn about a cup or so in 10,000 miles. Essentialy nothing. Final drive also runs Redline. It's also never been down except for a driveway tip over before I got it by the original owner (as I recall, it was Dan of Honda Milpitas).
There are a bunch of notes regarding the bike that I'll put in the next post. I'd really like to get 1500 for it, but I'm open to offers. The bike could be parted out for a lot more. And don't hesitate to ask any questions.
Note: The ST1100 is a super reliable bike that makes for an excellent commuter or long range touring bike. It's been used and is still used by police departments all around the world. With a little work, you can have a reliable bike that will never let you down and last for many years to come. I'd put her back on the road myself but as I mentioned, I'm not riding anymore right now.
If anyone is really serious about buying the bike, I'll do what' necessary to get it running again. Right now it will start fine but won't rev.
