Consider the maintenance work or fixes that YOU need to do to the bike, and factor that into the price. It is ok to pay more for a bike that has had all of the maintenance work done to it recently, or pay less and get a bike that needs some work, but you must know this in advance and be ok with it.
    • Inspecting the bike: if you are not experienced yourself, have a mechanic or an experienced friend check the bike before making a purchase. Crashed bikes:This is even more important if you are buying a bike that is being sold at a cheaper price with damages that the buyer is required to fix. In these cases, doing a frame check that will show any frame/fork/geometry damages is HIGHLY recommended. Do NOT simply rely on the information that the seller is providing, even he/she may not be aware of all the problems. Have the crashed bike checked and know what you are getting into.
    • Clean title, Salvage title A clean title doesn't mean the bike is free of serious issues. A Salvaged title doesn't mean the bike may have any problems. Every case is different. Some bikes are seriously damaged in a crash, but an insurance claim is never made on them, so they still have a clean title. Some bikes have had mostly cosmetic damages in a crash, but the insurance company decided to pay off the bike and salvage the title rather than spending the money to fix it. Know what you are getting into and don't make any assumptions based on what the seller is telling you.
    • Registration: Know about the current registration status of the bike. Check with DMV if you have any questions about any possible back fees and other title/registration questions (out of state title, no title with bill of sales only, etc.) before purchasing the bike.

    • If you disagree with a price, keep it to yourself. The seller has set the price. If you don't like it, don't buy it and move on. If you really feel strongly about it, then PM the seller.

Here's a great bike for the open road rider. Are you a:
- Vintage Japanese motorcycle collector?
- Virago or vintage Yamaha collector?
- Vintage touring enthusiast?
- Touring enthusiast on a budget?
Today's your lucky day. This is a factory touring version of the 1983 Yamaha XV920 Virago with some tasteful and performance enhancing upgrades. Here we go:
- Reduced: $2800
- 36.5k miles. Very clean, runs like a top.
- Clean title in hand, registration good through November, 2020 (just paid).
- New starter and new idler gear. It still sounds like a "box of rocks" like is should and it fires right up every time.
- XV920R fuel tank which looks way better than stock. This thing is worth $$$ by itself (look it up). New petcocks, fuel line and inline filters.
- The stock brakes on this bike were essentially for aesthetics only. Single wacky caliper with angled pads that just never worked right. So, I replaced the entire front end with one from a 1982 XJ750J Maxim. I had the forks fully refreshed, I completely cleaned and rebuild both calipers with new seals, I built brand new custom stainless braided brake lines, and I installed a freshly rebuilt front master cylinder from a 1983 Yamaha Venture Royale. New pads too of course. Holy cow what a difference! Bonus: The new XJ front end has both adjustable forks (air and clickers) and adjustable bars.
- With a wholly upgraded front end, the nasty stock rear shock needed replacing too so on went a brand new Hagon M62062 shock from England. Handling is now really amazing compared to stock. Lots of adjustability both front and back for either single rider twisties or 2-up fully loaded touring.
- Tires are a few years old but lots of tread left.
- All touring bags are in amazing shape both mechanically and aesthetically. Fully removable for overnight stays in hotels. I'm not the original owner of this bike but it has spent many years being babied and it shows.
- The original cassette stereo was shot so I replaced that with a nice hidden bluetooth amp and two tasteful speakers on the fairing. Sounds great when standing still but hard to hear when riding at freeway speeds. I also added a nice phone holder with integrated USB charging.

All ABS is in surprisingly great shape. The top of the tank has some scuffs but nothing crazy. I got this bike as a loaner for friends in case we ever wanted to go on a street ride but that doesn't seem to be happening too often so out it goes. Price is fairly firm and I can possibly include the original parts but certainly not at a huge discount. This is a rider's bike and would make a great addition to anyone's collection. Available now in West Sacramento.

Been there, done that. It's okay until you're waiting at a stoplight and the handlebars start melting. And then you're trying to pick a parking space and you can't make a decision because they're all so good and who are you to judge which is best?

By some weird cosmic anomaly, this bike is still available! Maybe we drop the price to $3,000 but given the pedigree of this bike (Prince's old bike...just look at the picture), I don't think I can go much lower.
