After the break-in tune and Brian got 1000 miles on the bike, he brought the bike back in to do what we call the finished tune, this is where we go through after the break-in and finalize are fueling and ignition timing, because in 90% of the time this changes, due to better ring seal and consequently more compression which is going to require more fuel and Different ignition timing. Check out Brian's reaction, after he's had time to get used to the horsepower and new torque. Then on the Dyno, we blow out the sidewall of the tire, from the torque of the motor, also see the heat in the rear exhaust, but above all, what's really cool !! we have the very first Dino pull graph when the bike was bone stock, stock 66hp, we finish with the S&S 143 cubic inch motor showing 180 HP:thumbup

A number of years ago I rode an Arlen Ness 145 tribute that was making that kind of power. It remains one of the hardest accelerating bikes I’ve ever ridden, partly due to the power and partly due to the long wheelbase. In top gear at 50 mph it would spin the tire.

The words "Harley" and "very fast" in the same sentence :rofl

No one has ever accused me of being a "Harley guy" but I know performance when I see it.
There are a few Harleys (some with super chargers...others with other mods) that easily run 9 seconds on Wednesday nights at Sears Point. Some of them are even ridden there and back....lights, license plate and everything.
So if you haven't seen "Harley" and "very fast" in the same sentence you just haven't been paying attention.

That is really cool, sounds like you guys do bitchin work. Guess a proper tune must be pennies to dollars for performance. Keep this in the back of my mind when I get the top end on the sporty eventually.

Good times at the All Harley Drags up at Sacramento Raceway. Street bikes to full on drag bikes. The Bagger grudgefests were always a hoot.
Sadly, don't know if Sacramento is going to be around much longer. :(

That certainly would be a bummer but I've been hearing "This may be their last year" for about 10 years now.
The standard follow-up when I say that is usually "No, this time is different. Developers."
I've been hearing that for about 10 years too.

True about the track closing over the years. The owner (the Smith family) are getting up in the years and heard the county will not renew the use permit if the land or business changes hands. Believe the county zoned it as M1 - Industrial / Commercial use and a drag strip falls outside that criteria.
It will never be able to meet the Noise restrictions / requirements.

Sad, cause there's really diddle-squat out where the track is and will be a lot of years before anything is.

(K.C. - Sweet motor! Sorry for the thread jack.)

The ignorance is strong with this one. :rolleyes

KC, I see you're still setting up street bikes? Do I have to specifically state that anything I bring in is for "off-road use" only? :shhh :laughing

As I told my son recently about some mods he wanted to do on his car...
"If you want to get trophys you modify, if you want to get home you leave it stock"

Words of wisdom there :afm199

Its funny how much I can appreciate a vehicle that just works like should and I don't have to worry about it. Something that is quite too.

I was just thinking about Andy from Southbay Riders today, and how he had that completely stock GSX-R1000 back in the day. I asked him yeeeaaaars ago if he was ever going to get an aftermarket exhaust and he said "naaaaaah, I like my bikes completely stock. I like the sound of stock exhaust."

Years later I heard a different guy say "you're de-engineering good engineering"

As much as I love modified stuff, man... my heart is growing fonder and fonder of bone stock bikes. My newly acquired 1987 Honda Super Magna, first question I asked was "Did anybody modify anything on it? Is it stock?"

Having a bone stock, quiet-ass bike was what I wanted. I like the sound of stock bikes now.

Not to mention it gives the cops on the backroads less time to put their donut down if they can't hear you railing it 10 turns before you get to them. :laughing
