Anyone have any dual sport 17's they wanna sell cheap. Or let me borrow :) Gonna dual sport the plated KTM 450 EXC SM set up this weekend. Im comfortable slipping and slidding with what I have on now 211's up front and michelin pilot powers in rear. The trail we are doing will be 75% dirt/gravel fire trails 25% road. I would prefer to try used /take off dual sport tires than to buy a new and realize i dont like adventure rides. Funds are very low but I wanna try this adventure thing this weekend.

I will swap the front with used Dunlop Qualifiers if I dont get dual sport tire. I have been off road on SM with slicks and race tires but never on a long adventure trip. Im not a dirt biker so the smoother i make this for myself the better.

Here's what I got to trade.
1.Dell D630 laptop perfect working order Craigslist value $200-$300
2. Maxxis brand new Presa rear slick..check my post on size in this section

gone for now
doesn't look like you can get any wider than 5.10 which is around 130, does that work decently on a 4.25" wheel?

I have it on my husky now, its a little stretched but works fine. Woodschick runs those sizes in a different tire model.

If you have SM wheels that are 3.5 & 4.25 - 5. x 17 You wont find a big slection of what i would consider "dual sport" tires

Rain tires are the best choice. You can find some DS rears that are designed for the big adventure bikes. But those are made for 500lb bikes and too stiff.

Just buy or borrow a tire groover and cut up that old Maxxis, cutting existing tires you own might take an hr, but beats mounting and remounting each time.

That Pressa was probably made in 2004 and just needs some tread / cuts it's not worth saving, they don't get better with age...

Any decent rain or DOT rain is ideal for all the riding you might do on a lightweight SM

Avon Pro extreme, Maxxis, Pirelli SC2. any of the "not too soft" tires rock

good luck, remember to Pin It!
