he got a few nights in jail, license suspended, fines out the ass. they did as much as they could but the key thing was he sold the vehicle and it went to the middle east right after they made the youtube video. so there was a "i wasnt the owner or the driver" dispute because you cant clearly see him in some of the shots. the buggy was gone months before the youtube vid dropped.

Seems to me this would be pretty stupid easy to charge. Bare minimum “here’s your performance award, thanks for the new uniforms for the department this year.” At max - “thanks for the new pursuit vehicle(s) we’ll be showing off in their new CHP livery at future fundraising events, we’ll bring an iPad to your cell so you can watch.”

Definitely looked like he had a brain fart / froze up and couldn’t decide whether to go left or right around the van. As motorcyclists we’re always (at least in theory) looking for our escape routes and thinking where to shoot the gap if someone doesn’t see us and cuts us off (as it happens frequently even when we’re not approaching at 150+ like this guy was). It doesn’t appear that he drives with the same mentality.
