13 y.o. Birthday Theme Question

A friend of ours is throwing a birthday party for her 13 year old daughter. Her daughter has requested (and she has agreed) on a theme of flip cup with water instead of beer, beer pong with water instead of beer, and jello shots with no alcohol.

I think this is an incredibly bad idea on its face and could also generate serious blowback from the parents of kids at the party.

What say you, BARF? Do I have too much fuddy in my duddy?

It's fine if their goal it to raise a "woo girl"

Very bad idea, and does not bode well for the child since she came up with the idea, and her parents okayed it. It is encouraging an unhealthy relationship with alcohol at an early age, by celebrating binge drinking.

Fear me!
Horrible idea. No way I would let my 6th grade son attend that kind of birthday party. Trust your instincts dude.

edit:
A few years ago we emptied the kids room and turned it into a dance party room. Covered the window, $20 flashing light thing, walls covered with colored tablecloth. streamers and balloons in the room. kids had a blast.

+1 inappropriate
also, you should suggest they have Girls Gone Wild videos as background entertainment to drive your point home.

also apparently beer pong isn't cool anymore anyway. it's something similar but only 4 cups on the table, one at each corner

It’s cold in Colorado
Cringe

I’d be pissed if my kid went to a party like that and I didn’t know it.

Tangent:

Local brunch spot gives away free shots of tequila... they will give shots of apple juice to the kids so they don’t feel left out...

I used think it was a fun idea, now I have a kid :|

Thanks, all. I didn't think I was being too conservative in my views with this one.

On the other end of the spectrum, a few restaurants stopped serving whipped cream on all of their mixed drinks because it would make them too attractive to kids.

My 13 yo just wanted to go to the movies and hang out on his b-day.

That's kinda crazy sounding.

I see this going really bad when pics of the whole thing are shared at school and/or posted on social media. Who does this?? :wtf

if you're going to have a theme party why not a maid theme? they could dress in maid costumes. the birthday girl could get a vacuum, dusters could be party favors and you could have cleaning contests.

I agree with everyone else. Bad party idea for a 13 year old. And I have a 13 year old daughter. She would never suggest anything like this. I predict this child will be a mother in about three more years.

ugh wtf, change the theme to princesses like snow white or something

this is ridiculous

He said 13, not 3. :laughing

Add me to the sounds like a horrible idea with all sorts of blow back potential camp, especially with employers checking social media. Hope the parents don't post any birthday photos.
