Need some advice. 08 Ducati hypermotard. 23,xxx miles. Maintenance up to date. Garaged
My 1st Ducati so don’t know what “ normal “ is
When pressing the start button for a long time would catch and start or click and spin free (it seems) every now and then

Got caught in rain last week and then wouldn’t turn over. Sat overnight then did
Well it’s been dry for days now , ride a couple times no problem now just clicks and a faint attempt at spin

I would assume the relay/ solonoid is bad?/ cracked and wet? Is it remote from starter
Thanks for input!

Baby steps first. And cost you nothing

* Make sure battery terminal screws snug.

* Grab multimeter and check key off, key on and bike running battery voltages. Report back with these numbers. Please don't just say it's ok or it passed.

* Try jump starting bike from car-off battery or Li-ion battery jumper pack.

Numbers McGee
It's that time of year when batteries go kaput. If it hasn't been replaced in the last 3-4 years, almost 100% guaranteed that's what it is.

The first part sounded like a bad starter sprag - "spins free"

But clicking and not cranking is insufficient power delivered to the starter motor. Bad Battery or connections.

aprilia twin owners know. cranking for excessive amount of time on weak battery/engine no start will bust the sprag
