Hi All,

I was looking for some insight since I am in the market for a new baby. I have ridden gixxers all my life and I am true to the gsxr family. I love my 03/04 gsxr 1000 and I am debating between the 05/06 versus the 07/08.

Any feedback including details of the good and bad would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you! :ride

I really didnt like my 05' 1000. It always ran wide in turns and it was gonna have to put too much money in it for my liking so I got rid of it. My 2 cents. There used to be a poster who knew sooo much about the k5 gsxr, but alas I forgot his name, his avatar was of his yellow black 1000.

07 hands down.:teeth

Honestly. its the rider. if it runs wide fix it. change the tires adjust the suspension.

the only thing I dont like about the 07/08 is that its so newer their are not a lot of used parts for it like the 05/06 ones.

The motors are bricks they dont have issues. the frames dont have issues. front forks :damping HIGH LOW and all that. Rear Shock just the same.

I seriously will cry when mine sells

Big Ugly
The 2005-06 model year was considered the best of the Suzuki 1000's. Lightest and best-handling before they started to gain weight and get fat and ugly. :laughing Don't let those internet stories of broken frames scare you, in all actuality it's really a VERY small percentage, and as long as you don't plow into a guardrail @ 140+, you have nothing to worry about. Spare parts, both oem and aftermarket, are plentiful. The engine is bulletproof...my K6 is approaching 50,000 miles and all I've done was replace the stock CCT w/an APE manual one and swap out a bad stator plug. Other than that, regular oil changes keeps her happy. :)

Suspension is good for what it was, but the forks tended to lose their rebound damping in under 2000 miles. Shock is fine.

WTF LOL
Fresh tires would make more difference than the model year. IMHO.

Thanx, Russ

Ha! Russ never rode any gixxers! :twofinger
Compared to your 03... briefly... :nerd
05 has way more bottom-end grunt, revs higher(no dips), makes more HP, feels way more compact and upright, steers slightly heavier, harder seat, adjustable foot controls, less windscreen/upper, has eight injectors and Ti valves... :party, etc.
07 feels narrower, loses a tad of grunt and mid-range but, has noticeably more top-end. Also steers a tad lighter and has cooler 3 mode power sw. and more adjustable suspension. Lose the muff box and dual pipes for a slip-on and it 's not heavier. :ride
Between 01-02, 03-04, 05-06, 07-08 and 09-10, all generations have substantially different feel and characters. The biggest diffs are between 04-05 and 08-09.
For your comparo, 05-06 has best road-bike torque curve but, 07-08 is smoother, handles better(slightly) and is faster. :teeth
