¿Ride Cuba?

After riding Pakistan last year and Europe two years ago, I've fantasized about putting together a small group of riders (5~8) to tour Cuba. Especially after reading the below article:

https://www.advpulse.com/adv-rides/10-things-ride-cuba/

Searching through BARF archives, I got a feeling that fellow BARFers had ridden Cuba in the past...I'd be much obliged if someone in the community could help recommend a local guide, touring company, or even pointers for undertaking such an endeavor. :thumbup

Oh sí, estoy tan dispuesto. cuando vamos? Riding in Latin America outside of Baja is a beautiful and fun chaos everyone needs to experience at least once. Especially such a unique place like Cuba.

I wish you well but other places hold more interest for me.

Not like I am going to them though. :(

Thanks for the link, I read about it...definitely would do something like that one day. The $6k price tag and limitation to Hardley Ablesons is a deal breaker for me at the moment:laughing

How was your trip!? Did you stay in Havana only or which region (West/East/Central) did you have a chance to visit? I'm very curious about the place since it has been closed to Americans for so long, also wanted to pick up some Cuban cigars from the source.

Stayed in Havana for 6 days. We were in the Vedado area which i highly recommend staying in if your in Havana. The old Havana area is very crowded and touristy, sure you're going to have to visit that are i mean why wouldn't you but i wouldn't want to stay there. Vedado was a lot more of local life and where families and university students live. The bars and restaurants are also way cheaper, went from $5.00 mojitos in old havana to $2.50-1.50 in Vedado. I was thinking of visiting in Vinales but it seemed to be that the only things to do there were the cigar factories and horseback riding which didn't interest us. Went to the beaches at playa santa maria which is near Havana. Cuba was super cool, so different and interesting. The people were all very nice. I would go again but there is much of the world i want to see but was glad to see Cuba before it changed too much.

Just be mindful of the the cars on the road. They don't stop for anything. Mostly because the brakes don't work. Cuba is a wonderful place. Greatest bunch of people I've met in my life. Highly recommend learning the basics of salsa dancing since that's all they do over there. Also if you know spanish make sure you can comprehend cuban spanish. And make sure whatever you ride you can fix with what you have on you. Try catching a baseball game while you're there.
