Your favorite weekend getaway motels

I was surfing the webs one day and I came across the Railroad Park Resort
in Dunsmuir, CA. That looks like a neat place for a motorcycle getaway weekend.

My question to you is, what is your favorite weekend getaway motel when motorcycling in Northern Cali (or anywhere in Cali)? My criteria for a place would be: close to nature/woods and interesting roads, close to quirky towns or landmarks, a parking lot where you can roll your bike right up to your front door (e.g. garden-style cabin rooms), small establishment (fewer than two dozen rooms) in a non-sketchy place where you don't have to attach an alarm lock on your bike.

Ft. Ross Lodge. Hot tub on deck of each room. Fireplace with provided wood. Hear the Sea Lions barking all night.

Surprise Valley Hot Springs, about 30 miles east of Alturas. Nice big rooms, kitchenettes, a private hot springs tub on the patio...all in a stunningly beautiful area.

Nice. I've never been to the northeast corner of California (I've been to Crescent City, Needles, Blythe, Chula Vista). Maybe it's time to visit.

I'm loving all of these recommendations. Quirky, off-the-beaten-paths places.

Cool looking spot. I once rode from Sacramento to Jenner (Highway 128, then to Calistoga, then up Petrified Forest Road/Porter Creek Road to Northern Santa Rosa area, then on to River Road through Guerneville). I remember once I got to Jenner that I wish I knew of some place to stay instead of riding all the way back to Sacramento. :laughing

If you feel like being a bit of a tourist around the Monterey area, I would recommend Borg's. We used to stay there for the races every summer. You can walk to Cannery Row and the aquarium, ride up and down the coastline, and there is a great breakfast place just up the road on Lighthouse.

+ 1 for Borgs. It has to be one of the most inexpensive places to stay on the Monterey Peninsula. Right across the street from Lovers Point. Good restaurant on the corner. I take my morning coffee across the street and sip it while watching the sea otters.

:thumbup It is soooo peaceful across the street. If you get a chance, go to Holly's Lighthouse Cafe. We never had a bad meal.

I love how it's tucked away from the main tourist areas, but only steps away from the ocean and eatery.
