What Supermotard is...

It all started in the late '70s with the Olympiad race at the legendary Saddle Back Park where the best flat trackers, roadracers and motocrossers did battle on a TT-style track--on motocross bikes with flat track tires. The Olympiad race quickly got replaced by The Superbikers which was held at another legendary track, Carlsbad Raceway. The Superbikers was an invitational race which offered sections for motocross, flat track and a high-speed roadrace on pavement. Racers competed on highly modified motocross bikes with factory hand-built parts, such as wheels, hubs, brakes, suspension and swingarms. Even though The Superbikers was covered on ABC'S "Wide World Of Sports," the event died in the mid-'80s.

Its Dethklok!
Motard is not one but, two races at laguna seca! Should be sick with all the talent but I think their gunna run on the superbike track. Not much fun when its all top speed and a bike that tops out at 120. I'd rather have a short track in the parking lot.

sounds like 'formula singles'

to my mind motard is all about the short track and agility rather than velocity

I would bet that Motard is big and will be huge in the US mainly because any parking lot can become a racetrack.

It's a shame to take the swarm of thumpers away from their natural habitat and put them on a big track. I'd much rather see them doing something the Superbikes can't do.
