What did you do to your dirty bike today?

It's been busy in here lately and that's excellent, but let's keep it going. How about a post-whore-but-dirt-bike-related thread for tinkering and whatnot?

About a year ago, my clutch cable frayed and I replaced it with a new one from Motion Pro. It never felt all that great and I finally bought a new Honda OEM cable and I just installed it....holy carp I can't believe what I've been missing. My 450 clutch pull is now smoother and lighter than my 250 smoker! Bummer is, now I'm going to have to buy one for the smoker.

Old and In the Way
Rode it and decided the 99 cr250r is a bit much to learn on... Kinda kicking myself for not taking your advice to go with a yz125. The good news is that it's plated so I'm gonna sumo it, get the 125 to learn on and then break out the 250 when I have some skilz.

I walked by it on the way into the house and thought to myself I should do some service before I ride it tomorrow.

How well, maybe next time.

If you can make a conscious effort to short shift all the time, it's a very mellow bike.

Haha, Ben, where ya going? I'm meeting a buddy out at Foresthill tomorrow, should be nice and tacky with the rain yesterday.

gas burning o-zone killer
I walked by it and caressed the back half of the seat ever so gently. Hope to find time to take one of them out this weekend.

Dirt Monger
100 mile ride from Cohassat to almost 36 in the dirt on the 690 with at younger, faster guy than I. I wonder what exercises I can do for hand strength and legs for staying on the pegs longer?

RAK it up
Walked by it on my way out for a cycle ride, and almost cried because I still can't ride it.

I gotsa free gas tank for ya!

That reminds me, how's the jetting on your bike? Do you have a Keihin, or the stock Mikuni?

Mine produced the least amount of spooge today with the following...

Keihin PWK from 2000 CR250
needle 2nd from top
48 pilot
165 main
air screw 2.5 out
elevation ~4-5k'
temp ~60f

I'm running a Keihin and engine from a 99 I got to do an engine swap when I blew up my 01 motor. I love the Keihin carb so much compared to the Mikuni. I honestly don't know what my jetting is set at right now. I did a quick tear down and inspect and threw it in. I'm running a PC Platinum 2 with a FMF Sparky, which up until l it's last ride (Its becoming the village bike) has been running clean as can be, I think my packing is going.

Yeah, I hear you. Even with my main being waaaaay off and so much spooge coming out that it drips onto the rear rim and caliper, it's still better than the stock Mikuni. I've been creeping up on leaning it out and I think I'm there, for the summer anyway. I put on about 50 miles today at Foresthill and this was the first time spooge wasn't trickling down the silencer. Packing, yeah, I need to to that too. When the trails open up, or when the hills are loose/steep, I wish I were on the 450, but for everywhere else, this 250 smoker is this shizz.

I did a little basic maintenance (bike wash, chain clean and lube, air filter clean and oil) and then dove head first in to the wonderful world of aftermarket parts and accessories!

On my bone stock '12 CRF250X, I installed new handlebars, grips, hand guards, radiator guards, skid plate, engine guards, tugger strap and hour meter. Next job is installing a 13T engine sprocket and a stiffer shock spring. It's like Christmas in May!

Sploosh!! Post some pics. :)

I tried to post pics with the original post but failed (lame, I know). If it works now, I've got a before pic from a ride 10 days ago and then the pics of the new toys!
