Are we having fun yet?
Also posting here will not go to barf.

I see. I just posted a couple of photos in the Moto Photos forum here and noticed they don't show up on barf.

Forum contents here are not up to date, and new posts are not linked to barf.

Questions:

1. Photos can now be directly uploaded from my desktop, right? This means we no longer need to use a separate image hosting site like Imgur?

2. Since this Beta forum is not live, what should us beta testers do here? Randomly posting in different Beta forum, or what?

3. Would you be including/adding "like" button?

Test of a picture to see how it goes. Easy to pull from my files and no resizing.

A bit of initial feedback...

1. It's looking great!

2. A "favicon" upgrade would be nice, the current one is a bit dated and grainy.

3. I didn't (yet, anyway) get email from a password reset request. My mail server uses greylisting which rejects the first email from a new sender with a temporary error, and a properly configured sender is expected to try again a bit later. As of an hour later it doesn't seem to be trying again. Can provide details if desired.

EDIT: Never mind #3, I finally got the email.

Question... after the cutover, will links to postings on the old forum still work?

You do realize that we can currently search the KS?😁
One thing that isn't clear is weather there will be a 'newest entries since your last time in the thread' button.

I wondered about new posts. Yes they do show top left of page just under Home is "New posts" I found your post by clicking it.

2. Anything you want. If you break something, just let me know so it can be addressed here.
3. Haven't put any thought into it, but there is a "like" button in the bottom right corner on each post. Maybe its like an "upvote" on Reddit(?)

To migrate over we don't need to "destroy" "old" BARF. Bud's a stickler that we are NOT to lose anything. So I can imagine we could leave old BARF up in a read only type of archive. Technologically, its doable.

This doesn't look to bad.

Here's a post from BARF
https://bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=7522163&postcount=1

And here it is from the new forum
http://import.barfxen.com/index.php...ers-trackers-and-customs.411574/#post-7522163

The key point here is that the message ID is the same: 7522163

That suggests that there may be a way to pull up a post with just the post id (and without the thread id). That's a question for the new forum software gurus.

If not, it may even be possible with a little bit of code to take the post id, look up the thread id (choppers-bobbers-trackers-and-customs.411574 in this case), in order to reconstruct the proper url.

You'd like to think that a large user base for the new forum software is folks transitioning from vBulletin, so they may well have mechanics in place to have this "just work".

Now, thread links may be more difficult than post links. (Though looking at it, those shouldn't be hard either, honestly.)

Agreed, as there will be an impact on SEO. It's something to consider before the move.

For threads that are more than a few posts long, the "go to first unread" icon next to the thread title is pretty handy. I dont see a similar function here?

Are there moderator, staff now, functions I should be trying to break? I'm pretty.clumsy with them on Actual Barf to be honest
