Wave rotors for the CBR650F

Hi everyone,
I was looking around and noticed people installing wave rotors on their bikes instead of the traditional drilled ones we've got used to. And since the rotors I've got on my bike now have to be replaced, along with the pads, I thought I may give those wave rotors a try. But before I go and buy a set, I wanted to ask your folks recommendations on whether there is any difference in the way wave rotors perform, compared to the regular drilled rotors I've got used to.
Also, do they require special pads, or they will work okay with any kind of pads?

The "purpose" of wave rotors is for quicker cooling.
Some argue slight braking improvement due to more leading edge contact.
Most agree that they look beter than regular round rotors.

Regular brake pads will work with wave rotors.

If you want improved braking force use Sintered (HH) brake pads.
Some bikes come stock with Organic pads.

There's typically 4 types/grades of pads...
Organic, semi-sintered (V), Sintered (H or HH) and Ultra high performance (for some bikes).
Ceramic pads are also available for some bikes but not really necessary for 95% of the riding population.

Did you run your pads down to the backing plates and wreck the rotors or something? Normally they last a very long time on the street.

I got the bike from the previous owner, and seems like the rotors rusted or something, and the guy simply restored them. Now, they are quite thin and I see rust shows up in the holes and when the bike sits for a week or so, rust shows up on the rotors. The pads do not look badly worn, but I was not sure whether wave rotors require a different kind of pads or the regular ones will do that.
Now, I understand that I can keep the pads, thanks for the reply!

Now, as for what they look, you know, tastes differ. I've never had a set of wave rotors by myself, so I just thought of giving them a try. If I don't like them, I'll just sell them on e-bay, not a big deal. Now, one more thing. I didn't manage to find a specific set that will work on my CBR 650F (one that says that is designed to work on this bike), just universal stuff like

Is there a brand that offers wave rotors specifically for 2015 CBR 650F? Also, I've read that most probably I will need some special bolts for installation, how do I find out what bolts I need?

Sorry for too many questions, appreciate any help, folks!

Galfer makes them.
Seen HERE on Tucker Powersports catalog.

Front p/n - 201714 - $133.33/ea. 2 required
Rear p/n - 201741 - $133.33/ea. 1 required.
(these are Tucker part numbers, not Galfer)

Your local shop should be able to get them for you w/o shipping.
And possibly at a reduced price. Shop I work at can.

Note: Motorcycle rotors cannot be re-surfaced. They are just too thin to start with.
Run your finger (like your pinching your rotor) from the inner area to the outer edge.
Did you feel a good sized "lip" at the outer edge. If so your rotor is probably near EOL (end of life).
If not much lip and the rotor is uniform thickness without major grooves then you should be fine.
I wouldn't expect this on a 2015 bike unless the pads have been worn down to metal.
How many miles on the bike?

Did you measure the rotor thickness? Bike rotors are always fairly thin.

They don't tend to have a rust preventative coating in the holes, so some rust is normal.

new rotors-should install new pads also at same time.stock bolts are fine, there probably will be loctite from the factory.don't force the bolts, they will round off.put heat on the bolts and use impact driver if stuck-i order oem replacement bolts when i replace rotors.galfer likes you to use galfer pads to keep warranty.
