Wanted: Uniform Building Code Book..

So it appears that the BARF has a few resident Architects. Guess most are probably on the commercial side vs residential.

I'm looking for a more current version of the Uniform Building Code book if there is one. My version is from 1979. I'm interested in the areas of concrete foundations, piers / footings, roofs (beam, rafter, joist, spans, etc.) construction and glazing, with regard to earthquake standards/requirements now in place.

Or possibly some other up-to-date reference that might be available.

Project: Single story, standalone garage. Think along the Eichler - Mid Century Modern style, approx roof size: 24' x 23' with 1.5:12 or 2:12 pitch, metal roof, floor size 20' x 22'. Garage doors: bi or tri fold. Glass wall (set back 3') under roof peak something like a NanaWall or sliders.

Any info, input would be grateful.
Thanks,
Bruce

I have every code cycle. Yes commercial here. Happy to let you borrow the ‘16. We are on ‘19 now. Not much difference.

Ducatihoney does residential and has way more talent than I if you need a recommendation. I do hitech BS... and zero resi stuff.

Not sure where 68th street is but I am in Mt View and in the office 11/7 right now.

Hi Budman,

Thanks, I'll see if Ducatihoney pops in. If not, I''ll reach out to her.
Ha, ha... "hitech", nope, none of that autocad, revit stuff for me. More of the vellum, old K&E mechanical pencils, Keuffel pens, t-squares, french curves, and board kinda guy. :afm199

Subscribed because I’m also thinking of building a detached garage and bumping out my master bdrm.

Fyi, I believe UBC was superseded by California Building Code (CBC).

BARF delivers! California Building Code

The State of California adopts a set of new construction codes every three years referred to as the California Building Standards Code. The 2019 California Building Standards Code (2019 CBC) is effective January 1, 2020.

Found this regarding CBC: https://up.codes/viewer/california/irc-2018

Haven't had a chance to look through the above at any depth.

Another question: Would a garage, since it's not a living space, require a Title 24?

Lizard - Doing an addition to a home would kick in Title 24 requirements.
