Top 10 Fun Facts in Motorcycling World Championship History

2. What is the highest number of participants in history?

A total of 97 riders took part in the 1969 Tourist Trophy on the Isle of Man (500cc). Eight times 500cc. World champion Giacomo Agostini won this race.

In 1969 the Isle of Man TT was the fourth round of the World Championship 500cc class ... Mr. Agostini was the champion that season on a 500cc MV Agusta.

The only way a punk kid/puke young adult could watch that stuff. Scanning the tapes in moto mag ad’s weighing gas money vs 2 wheel entertainment. :dunno

Gas money usually won. Good times.

Too cool! First mins are how the course gets set up, but then race footage. Love the guy's new paper route bag at 2:00. I had the same one for my paper route. :laughing

modified 1970 Triumph Daytona T-100 (despite youtube title) ...
raced by Mr Todd Libhart ... :rose

It's got a 1970 T-100 Daytona engine bored to 540cc.

The motor drinks nitromethane from Hillborn fuel injectors. The bike is fitted with Nourish cranks and eight-valve heads, Carillo rods, and CP pistons made to the team's own spec.

Hillclimb bikes use only one speed, so they modify the T-100 gearboxe to run top gear only; that leaves empty space in the box, allowing it to double as an oil tank.

Although it's hard to get reliable dyno figures using nitro, the little bike makes about 150 horsepower.

for 1962siia and oobus and Tri750 ... :toothless
