PART ONE (more to come)

So, the way I was recruited was by word of mouth ( a friend knew a friend who worked at E. A. ). Electronic Arts contacted me for an audition one day at the San Mateo location. It was also the same day Fujioka shot the stills for the cover art and posters.

The fist day of the live action shoot (I won't call it the Video shoot because it was actually done on film) was in the east bay hills. The first scene was of me coming toward the camera at speed and swerving away from the camera at the very last second. Luckily, the camera was left to run on it's own in the middle of the street with no cameraman, because at one point I actually hit (clipped) the camera with my foot or foot peg.
(see it here, at 0:46 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBdlScU7N6M )
I was sure I had damaged the expensive equipment and thought I had ruined the rest of the day. But luckily nothing happened to it and the director set me at ease. Fwew !
We also did some of the Cop chasing motorcycle, chase scenes there.

The next day we filmed over by the San Jose airport. There used to be a neighborhood there under the final approach to the runway but they removed all the houses for a few square blocks. So all that remains are the sidewalks and curbs. We did some more chase scenes there, one is where I'm ditching a cop and hiding behind a bush till he goes by then I gas it down a sidewalk and wheelie off the curb onto the street.

That was fun and I did that on a borrowed CBR600.Spinning the doughnut in the dirt was the hard part, The scene you see in the game was actually the very first take. They made me do it several times until I finally fell over, slightly damaging the bike (which I had borrowed from a friend).

Speaking of damaging bikes, Randy Breen the Games producer (that worked for EA) also rode in some of the scenes. In the scene where he comes up to the cop cars, and spills a cup of coffee in the cops face, and then they take off after him. That was filmed on Beale street in San Francisco. We had 2 or 3 blocks closed down for the shoot, Randy approached the intersection (with cars going both directions in front of him) and apparently was going too fast and hit his breaks too hard and went down, damaging the Ducati 900 SS. You can ( if you look real hard, see him go down in a cloud of dust at 0:12 )

He was luckily O.K., but that bike also had some damage like the mirror was broken off. So, they made up a new "wreck scene" and used it there.
You can see the damage here..( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3h8-IyNkN8&NR=1 )
Did I mention the lovely and very hot, Stacy Hayes ? (from the game show "lingo" and other fame, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUEnDKd0ihU )
She was in Road Rash,... More on her later !

Good Job.

I make words too.
I busted out my 3d0 and have been playing the first Road Rash all afternoon.

Watching the video clips has been my favorite part. The last time I played, I was not a rider, hell I don't think I lived in California. I remember when I first moved out here thinking that they did a great job of portraying wine country.

Bump for nostalgia.

in this realm, at least, BudMan & our own "Crazy Joe" simply rule!

this was the 1st video game I ever played - the initial shock value of the violence was huge 30+ years ago.....
