I've always gotten helpful input when requesting info on Bay Area tips, so i'm asking again please.
In May, 2 mates from the U.K. will be arriving SFO, rent a car, then head for a hotel for the night.
next day, they will see Alcatraz, etc etc then head to Fresno to pick up bikes to explore Yosemite, etc.
Looking for decent hotel with onsite parking, decent restaurant and a place to have a beer or three for the night.
i suggested the valet/onsite to avoid the corner lots or parking on the street.
thanks in advance for any suggestions .

If you want a personal recommendation, I liked the Grand Hyatt. Nice beds. Good breakfast.

Hotels in SF are expensive, but if they're coming from London then I guess they know what expensive is.

A cheap but decent option is Whitcomb on Market St. Not the greatest neighborhood, but has onsite parking for decent price, there is a bar, and on all major public transit options. Usually through hotels.com or something you can find a room for about $100.

Why are they renting a car? Seems like they can do everything you listed without one. I find a car to be more of a hassle in SF than a help.
