Supercross 2021 Racing BS Thread *spoiler alert*

Thought from a post in another thread.

Where the fuuuuk has Suzuki gone???
Not a player in the game in either class.

I have gotten used to it but I don't hafta like it. There has been an absence of yellow at the gate for quite some time now. When Decoster wandered over to KTM and took a young Dungey with him it seemed to put something unsavory in motion. Ricky C tried with his satellite team but even that has withered away. There is an imbalance in the power distribution that is not uncommon with the AMA. It reminds me of the era in AMA road racing when the Graves R6s were winning all the 600 races and the Yoshimura Suzukis were taking all the Superbike crowns.

Darwin's exception
Those early 80's RM with the original full floater rear suspensions were sick. A top ten all time on my list of great looking bikes. Never had one, I had an 83 CR125 which I loved. The 80's were special time in MX.

Suzuki team? Was certainly a conscience decision to focus on MotoGP and let Supercross/Motocross go. The JGR deal was about money, Suzuki didn't want to support a factory level effort and this is what we are left with. It's been years in the making, writing on the wall as a fan.

I'd love to know how many new MX bikes are sold each year. I suspect its a lot less than we think, certainly a small fraction of what it used to be in the 70's, 80's, and maybe even 90's.

250 West may be interesting. I suspect its going to be race between two Star Yamaha's again... J Mart and Justin Cooper. We will also get to see Nate Thrasher, the young 250 highly regarded rookie that caused some musical chairs in the 450 class. Star really wanted him.

Will any of the Pro Circuit kids be able to run the Star Yamaha pace? Dunno, perhaps Jordan Smith and McAdoo stay healthy and challenge. My money is on Blue in the end though.

I'm a big fan of Peirce Brown on the Gas Gas. Not sure he has grown into a contender yet, but I'll be cheering for him regardless of how it shakes out. Probably my favorite rider this year in the West :thumbup (weird calling it West when none of the races other than SLC are actually in the West.)

Can Hunter Lawrence surprise everyone on the Honda? Would be a great story if he did, but I'm not calling it. He hasn't shown the same speed in SX he has outdoors, or the ability to stay healthy yet. I just don't see it happening and suspect his place on the Honda Factory Team has a lot to do with his brother alone. Harsh, but possibly true.

Certainly plenty of stories to follow in the West, reasons to cheer for any number of riders. Some veterans who havent been able get in done, some sophmore season riders looking to step up, and a number of untried young kids. We will have a first time winner, just like the East regardless.

Had several RMs. 81, 2 and 3.

And yeah they looked good. Wish I stayed with the 82. 83 they adjusted to have more low end and it was not as fast.

82 was fan the clutch and rip. Loved it.

Cool info on the Gas Gas kid. No clue. Learn as we go.
Yamaha rocking the 250’s but not the 450’s. Hmmmmmm.

No code has to be inserted here.

One significant name in 16th place. The dude carrying the red plate.

Means less than great gate picks. The start looks shortish so that makes it even tougher. Bam Bam in 18th. :wow

My pics.

1. Webb
2. Tomac
3. Anderson
4. Roczen
5. Zach O
6. AC
7. Ferry Boy
8. Stewart
9. Bam Bam
10. Musquin

Saturday night is alright for fighting. Woot!

KNGKAW
Pooper did it again with Musquin making it a KTM 1-2
Woot!
Again Tomac blew the start, as did Roczen. Eli did a decent job of coming through the pack. I guess it was an Off night for Ken. Can't afford many of those if Webb stays hot

Good to see the points tighten up and Webb doing his business.

Good to see Marvin back on the podium. KTM 1 - 2. :cool

Bam Bam stuck it out for a podium good to see as well.

Fun race.

Some good racing, a few surprises for me.

The 250's

PC's Seth Hammaker was totally not on my radar. Fantastic ride from the rookie in the heat and main. I'm going to be following. Shouldnt be surprised I guess, not like Mitch Payton is new at picking talent.

Speaking of talent, that had to be redemption for Garret Marchbanks on the podium after being dropped this year from PC Kawasaki. 3rd on a non factory bike. :thumbup Hoping he can keep it up.

Hunter Lawrence finished a few positions higher than expected, he just never looks comfortable on a SX track, way too many errors. Maybe I'm being hard on him, but I think he was lucky to finish 5th.

Had no idea Gas Gas's Pierce Brown was injured. Really fan of this kid, hoping to see him race soon.

Martin BROTHERS.... f#ck. Talk about a rough first lap. Both brothers out. Loved Jmarts heat race victory podium interview. Asked about his FC Honda compared to this years Star Yamaha and he was very appreciative of the Honda and the team..... guy is polished and knows what to say and when

Blue bike in front at the end wasn't a surprise, be it Cooper. Looks like he has his confidence back and the injury behind him. Too early to say, but if Jmart is out, he has to be the hands on favorite for the West. Hopefully somebody challenges him, looking forward to watching what unfolds. :ride

450's

We have a race, Cooper is on it. Great to see Bam Bam hang on to that third place and hold off Tomac, he fought for it. Love seeing Marvin on the podium, you just never know what he is going to say or how long he is going to keep talking on the podium. Like it.

Considering Roczens start, that was decent finish.

The 450 LCQ had some good racing. Didnt think McElrath was going to make it with Bowers in front of him. Speaking of Bowers, he can make Bam Bam look a child when it comes to rubbing elbows. Guess years of Arena Cross can do that.

Great racing and entertainment for sure!

Anyone hear any news of the outdoors schedule yet? Will we have a Hangtown race and will fans be able to attend? Maybe this isnt wise, but I've got a hankering to see to some racing live. :cool Perhaps a trip to Utah for the last SX races?

The whoops are frightening to the OG. :laughing

Always shake my head at those things and how they can skim them. Its not only the depth/height of them, but the distance apart.

I can get up on top to skim some stuff we typically see in the desert and or time them jumping through... but they are WAY smaller and closer together.

Supercross whoops and the guys that can blitz them are a like superhuman to me. Look more like old man double jumps to me.. if I was lucky.
Sheer courage. :afm199

Dang it..... AC shoulder again? Got to be a limit on how many times they put his shoulder back together. Hope he heels up fast. Selfishly as a fan, I'm always bummed when we lose a top guy from the premier class.

Unless its Marc Marquez in MotoGP. :later

Losing MM made for a great season.

AC is so close to being a top 3 dude.
