the ez way is get a new chain and cut that one longer.

i have seen a few chains with multiple master links at the track. ive also seen a few chains with multiple master links break off. its not something im willing to do.

$150 for peace of mind is CHEAP. Especially when you consider you'll go through that much in tires, daily, on your leaderbikes listed.

Soooo sketchy...the multiple master's. (been there and done it...not again!)

I’ve been running my chain length at 605mm ish, which is about the mid point on the adjustment of the axle. Obviously changes a small bit depending on gearing selection. You will get a whole lot of advice on where to position the rear axle. A lot depends on riding style and electronics. It’s always a give and take. With it far back, you will help keep it from lifting the front. If you run it shorter, the bike will turn better, and the lifting the front can be prevented with electronics. Again, lots of ways to do it, and none are perfect.

Good comment(s) from Tyler too. It'll be good to have someone at the track who can help work with you on electronics...currently, EDR is at the track, Sage shows up and Will Morton. They all know the 10R. Will won the FP#1 plate with Wyatt Farris on the same bike you're on, Jacob. HE knows his shit.

I ordered a 16 front and 41, 42 for rear. already have a 43 and 44. So ill play around with sprockets and tracks to see what i like and where.

I thought I was going to be at T-hill west so I changed my 17/40 to 16/42....

Wanted to bring chain back some so asked about adding links. everybody said buy new chain. So went and counted links on my 2013 as the rear axle is pulled back about as far as I believe it can go.

And oddly found out that it had the same amount of links as my 2017...

I grabbed some video since i havent gotten fluent with pics on this site yet.

So am I missing something or is the new bike just long from front sprocket to rear sprocket?

my 2017 might have a slightly loose chain but its minimal movement for the axle.

I’ve been running 16/37-39 on my 18’ zx-10. Make sure you change the ecu for whatever gearing and tire diameter you are running. The Kawi electronics are sensitive to those changes.

have you had any issues with different sprockets? What did the electronics do?

I’ve never ran it without changing the gearing ratio in the software, but I would assume it would affect everything traction and electronics related.

Don’t overthink this. If u don’t trust your approximation with the chain and sprockets, use a tape measure on the swing arm.

Long swingarms can be great for rear traction and stability. A lot of SBK swingarms are another 20mm longer.

It’ll cause hell on the electronics if it’s big enough change in diameter. Jacob, call Sage and have him tell you his story on electronics and have to fix peoples electronic for A competitor who changed tire size and had no idea what the fix was.

One of the funniest stories I’ve heard in some time!

Gen 5 w/ kit ecu does not like incorrect information. You need to program in the changes.

Yes the gen 5 swingarm is longer than the gen4. This is one of the major changes to the gen 5 vs gen 4 bike besides electronics.
