Sonoma Sundays

Yesterday the Sonoma kart track manager, PK, announced that they will be running karts AND motos on Sundays for the next 2 months. The schedule for November already reflects the new days.

Many of you know that the number of weekend days where we've been able to ride at Sonoma has been drastically cut over the past couple of years. My personal opinion is that PK seems to be trying to give us moto riders an opportunity to prove that there's enough interest to justify more weekends for motos. I know this isn't the best time of year for riding but if the weather is decent, a good turn out now increases our chances of more weekends next year.

We had a decent showing of moto riders out there yesterday including a few minis without any mention on social media so hopefully we can get some good turnout as the word gets out.

Sounds good when I upgrade the controller on my Light Bee I will take ot out there for testing.

I want to point out that Supermoto USA had 4 races at Simraceway this year and each race they had a practice day before. One day they had a dirt section too. Usually practice is Saturday and race is Sunday. Lots of playmates!

What kind of KLX do you ride?

I've always been wanting to do this but it's not easy finding information about it. Like, even with the most basic stuff... are there any requirements for the bike? what kind of bikes are in what groups? what's the day's schedule look like? How much does a practice / track day cost versus a race? I wish there was more transparency to it all across all kart tracks... that by far is the biggest thing that stops me.

If you haven't read it, a lot of information is in the sticky at the top of this forum "The Newbie Guide To SuperMoto".
A trackday at Sonoma runs $60 for a full day $40 for a half day. Some days are motos only and some are shared with karts. Sessions are usually 15 minutes. The karts and motos run separate sessions. Most of the time there is just a single moto group. If there are a lot of bikes they will break it up into a slow and fast group.

It's way more laid back than a trackday at the big tracks. You don't have to be there early for a riders meeting and there's no official tech check that you'll have to run through but you'll still want to make sure your bike meets the basic requirements.

Yep what he said. If it's a slow day and no karts its literally hop on the track whenever you feel like it. I probably did 100 laps one day haha.

You will need to have sliders on your bike. Axle/swingarm sliders, footpeg sliders, and barend sliders or handguards. You will need a catchcan to catch any fluids that may spill from your bike in the event it goes down. Also you'll want to tape up your lights of you have em.

Also always ask what direction the track is going I didn't one time and assumed it was the one they usually do (clockwise) and it was counter clockwise. Sometimes they don't mention it. I've seen bikes as small as groms to a DR650. So much fun for notbmuch money =)

Nice. I’ve always wanted to try Sonoma Kart track. Just tough with my work schedule and their limited Moto days so I usually go to Stockton since I have a key but I’m gonna have to try and get out there soon

Danggit, you are so right. Participate or lose it
I gotta get me and my baby Gromster out there again soon
that track is so much fun and it'll be good to come back with a fuel injected bike that has electric start instead of the cramped up push starters i went with before
Thanks for posting this!:ride
