That looked like an awesome ride. Every 3 years! I hope there's another one sooner than that. How long did you guys ride before taking a break?
No, more like 3 per year. It's just that Aaron hadn't bothered to join us since 2009.
Next rally up is EuroBARF 3, and you can find the details about that in my sig. After that there will be the Hawthorne rally which should be announced next week. All these will occur before the end of this riding season. All you have to do is pay attention. These rallies are stickied to the top of the Group Rides forum months in advance of the date, and they frequently have hundreds of posts, so it shouldn't be hard to find out about them in advance.
Breaks? The great thing about a rally - covered in laborious detail in each rally announcement - is that rallies aren't group rides. You can do whatever the hell you want. Want to break? Okay. Don't want to break? Okay. Want to explore that side road? Go for it. Want to head straight for the motel so you can begin to promptly self-medicate by the pool? Sure. We put groups together that you can join or not. My group does not stop a whole lot, but we still stop too much for Ed!

People who rode with me all weekend ended up putting on about 1000 miles in three days primarily on fairly technical roads, with Saturday being the biggest day. You can't do that if you stop a lot.
