Hi. So Bald Hill Mountain is unpaved for about ten miles or so. Not difficult at all, though, so long as you are comfortable with being on an unpaved road. Bald Hill Mountain's paved bits are gorgeous!!! Forks of Salmon is AMAZING as is Cecilville Callahan. Do NOT skip a gas station if you see one unless you have a good long range.

If you don't want to do dirt the section from Willow Creek to Weitchpec is roadgasm inducing.

So...if you want to stay on pavement just turn right on Hwy 299 just north of Arcata and a left on 96 in Willow creek.
Still a nice route.:)

You can stay at the big foot in Willow Creek. Hop on the road to weitchpec in the morning towards forks of salmon. There's an espresso spot right next door to the big foot.

Pro tip: stop for espresso at somes bar. There's a little market there (think bodega sized!) and they have good coffee.

YES SIR !!!
It was one of the best 3 days rides

Day 1 :
Hwy 1 UP is equally gorgeous as south
Fall in love with "AVE OF THE GIANTS",
Slept in Gabrielle, so I can go again in the morning

Day 2 :
Willow creeek => Forks-of-samon => Callahan => Weed ( Mount Shasta )
Road parallel to the river is amazing

Day 3 :
Lassen NP => Hwy 70 => Home

Dint take much pics, I will post some soon
Thanks for all great tips
I should do it again
