Racer High Racer gloves

Moab on my mind
I ordered these in Large to replace my Helimot F108 gloves and Helds, I forget the model, looks like a Phantom-something. I have a taste for high-end, kangaroo-palm gloves that dates back to the 1990s when I first got some roo skin Helds.

The Racer (brand) High Racer (model) gloves are of quality construction and leather and seem similar to my Helds. They have a lot of bells and whistles I don't care for, such as hard knuckles and multiple hard points. They have some features I like, such as a large, long gauntlet and enough material to fasten it over a leather jacket. :thumbup It also has a velcro wrist closure that is on the inside of the wrist so it doesn't get blown open in the wind like the Helimots. :thumbup Unfortunately, there is a leather piece that extends from the palm and blocks my efforts to easily fasten the velcro wrist closure. :thumbdown

The outer two fingers are stitched together. There is grippy material on the fingertips and across the palm. The non-palm leather is supple and perforated. I can't feel any venting but the gloves were not unpleasant on the ~85F afternoons I've worn them.

At first they were extremely tight and I didn't think they were going to fit but I read they need to break in. They got much better after two break-in rides, but after several more break-in rides, they are still tight in the fingers. I have to force my hands around the grips and my hands soon tingle. They are more comfortable if I relax my grip and rest my palms on the grips or ride with fingers on the levers.

Unless these break in further, I think the discomfort is a deal-breaker and I'll have to look for something else. :thumbdown

FYI, using the Racer hand measurement method, I figured my palm was on the high end of their Large and my fingers were on the short end, almost Medium.

The gloves are Awesome Right You may need to loosen a tight-ish area...
Big deal, applying leather dressing in the needed spot/area, takes care of that.

Could be worse
These were the first gloves i ever owned and loved them. Someone broke into my car and stole my helmet and gloves years ago and i forgot which brand they were. I recently bought another pair and unfortunately i feel the same as you. I bought the large since i couldn't quite squeeze into the medium but they just don't seem as comfortable as i remember.

I'm returning some Knox Pod gloves for a larger size, i'll likely try to sell these if the Knox ones fit better.

Love those gloves, but I had to get the 2XL to get ones that didn't cause the numbness you describe. My hands really aren't that big, but that's what fits me in the Racers :dunno

I've been through about 4 pair in 10years, NOTE: be sure to feed the leather (with some kind of conditioner) before trip to the desert/ Hawthorne... or they will dry and crack :cry

I used some Armor All leather conditioner on them before a long road trip. They are now broken in and I didn't notice the palm complaints I had earlier. I continued to be annoyed by the wrist strap being hindered by the palm flap.

Random accidental pic.

Still learning
I have the Sicuro which look very similar to these and they do feel a little tight on the knuckles when you make a fist but I heard each glove has a slightly different fit profile though.

Got a Med initially but my nails would dig into the gloves on the levers, exchanged for L and they fit just a touch loose, esp in the thumb and pinky. Maybe I would've been better off with the M but they're fine to ride in and I don't notice them too much, just a slight touch of tingliness.

As for the wrist flap velcro, I just flip it over, hold it down with my other fingers and do the velcro up with my thumb and index.

My Racers were a bit uncomfortable around the palm area because the palm would bunch up. I rode in the rain and then they dried out as I continued riding and they never bunched up again and now fit perfect.

It's not my fault...
I tried these on when I went to a local dealer...I thought these gloves fit awesome. These will be my next purchase on gloves
