Possibly a silly question - but can I put an auto jack here?

Gonna do the forks on my SV650. I've done this a few times, but I've always hung the bike from some rafters. My condo doesn't have rafters and I really don't feel like rigging something for this job. I don't have a triple clamp front stand, nor do I know anybody locally I can borrow one from. SO! I'm going total sketch with this using an auto jack, never used a jack on something that doesn't have a frame to place it on.

Can I place it here without causing damage? Of course, not on the exhaust pipe, but on the engine. The jack should clear the pipe. My gut says yes, but just want to double check. I will have the rear end on a normal swingarm stand when I elevate it.

I actually tried this a few weeks ago, and the problem is that it's too far back that it won't lift the front end of the bike. Rather, it will start lifting the rear off the rearstand.

Yepppp... after I posted this, I also thought about that. Thanks!

What I did on my SV is put jack stands under the frame sliders. Guess I don't have a pic handy of it on stands but this shows the sliders I have - they use a through bolt.

Getting it up there can be a little challenging if you don't have the right stand, though.

Just borrow a fork stand. You can use mine, but I don't live that close to you. I have a bag of pins, I'm sure one would fit your SV.

Thanks for the thought! How many times do I have to break down my fork? It's all good - I can just take it and hang it like I've done before at my parent's house. :) Thanks everybody :ride
