...that brings up an interesting thought. This is really more about advancing technology and building a ecologically friendly park than riding. Well, intro to riding at an interesting play area. It won't be real riding...

But it it a real opportunity to advance our sport, and San Jose.

That's how I'm selling it. It won't be another Hollister or Carnegie which is a good thing but there will hopefully be 3-4 tracks including one for kids, one for old guys like me (TT style) and one for the brave. There could be maybe 15+ miles of trails including a 3.5 mile levee trail out into the bay.

By the way, 22 more signatures needed to get to 500 :thumbup:teeth:banana:party

That was my thought and was included in my petition comment. Silicon Valley is at the forefront of renewable and EV technology. We should be at the forefront of promoting that technology; and provide users with a premiere place to experience, refine and test it. The park represents a place to do just that.

And then there is this:
"... State Parks and the nonprofit foundation will be responsible for all environmental restoration, habitat and species stewardship, planning the park and building the paved muti-use and unpaved trails, nature education center and kiosks."

Are the e-moto manufacturers helping with this effort? Alta or Zero? They should have pretty extensive mailing lists that they can use to help the petition.

True, using several different grant funding opportunities that I've been researching.

Thursday 1/13 there is a meet the councilperson meeting for any of you who are in District 4 San Jose. Lan Diep is the guy we need to bring this before the City Council.

Please join me and newly elected San Jose City Councilmember Lan Diep at a community meeting for residents of Berryessa, Alviso and North San Jose from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2017, in the Berryessa Library, 3355 Noble Avenue, San Jose.

Besides meeting Lan Diep, who represents San Jose’s Council District 4, you will hear from County and City of San Jose staff.

Update: After identifying literally billions of dollars of funding to tap into, San Jose has scheduled a meeting to discuss the park.

This is the moment of truth. If it goes well we could have a 300+ acre mini park and possibly even a 3.5 mile levee trail out on the bay. If it doesn't go well I'm working on an alternate site in Fremont.

Keep your fingers crossed :ride

The petition has over 560 signatures and 200 positive comments. The petition can be viewed HERE

Edit: Councilmember Diep decided not to actively support the park. Apparently it was a waste of their time to answer emails and talk to city officials.

Though Diep is unsupportive, shall we contact our council members? Mine is vice mayor. What is the latest plan/ proposal?

Thanks Butch but there isn't much that can be done if this meeting doesn't go well. If staff don't recommend the project the city council won't force them to do it.

If it does go well, public support will be a big help during the EIR/public input process in support of the park where there will probably be opinions in favor of no people on the land at all and those against this form of recreation.

I doubt that they will leave all the land empty when it states in the master EIR that most of it could still become development and I've been told by some in the city that a warehouse development is being proposed. I was told that this park could be a good middle ground.

I'm trying to give the city a viable alternative to the development. With the funding and support from the state and national parks, CARB, water board and others I think I have.
