Today is Ash Wednesday, and decided to ride to fulfill my religious obligations - and - since I'm out and about, take a few glamour shots. My bike is pretty gross, guys. Also, the hand guards actually worked at keeping my hands a bit warmer.

Honestly, at a glance, that's a pretty cool Magna. Always liked that model.

I will say with the first photo, and the bungi net and whatever finish is on the tank I thought "What is on that tank, leather?".

Thanks! Yes, this version made only two years and it’s such a weirdo. From the exhaust, taillights, and side panels it’s like a cruiser with heavy 80’s sport bike influence. I especially like the motor, though, and the history of how and why Honda made these bikes with these smaller motors.

Compared to the V-twin rivals, it’s actually pretty fast considering it’s age and low-tech’ness.

The paint on the bike is multiple coats of whatever flat paint and primer I had in the shop, sanded, sprayed, sanded and sprayed with gas spilled over it from filling up. Add overspray from painting stuff without removing it.

This 2015 Road King's very fun to ride, and comfy for long distance. (400 miles on this + 78 miles on my own bike yesterday, and didn't sleep well the night before - I was dead tired at the end.)

I’ve been eyeballing this road for awhile since it’s right by my step-son’s school in the countryside of Salinas. I asked my wife where it takes you, and she said it spits you off in San Juan Bautista. Amazingly beautiful. So stoked that these roads are so close to me. Once you cross over from Monterey County into San Benito County, the road is filled with potholes, whereas the Monterey country side was smooth as silk.

Snake River Canyon Scenic Byway

Today's destination: Snake River Canyon Scenic Byway

The roads are clear of snow, even if my driveway isn't.

Gotta stay out of the hills for another month or two. That leaves driving through the flat parts like this.

Lots of buttes out south and west.

This is the road I was seeking. It winds along the Snake River for about 15 miles.

I have a telescoping fishing rod and small tackle set I keep in my truck in case I stumble upon a fishing spot. Makes me want to have one on my bike for similar occasions when I look at pics like this.

What kind of fish is to be had in that river?

I know that in Idaho you're supposed to be into fishin' and huntin' and guns and stuff, but not me. I do like off road motorcycle riding and one of these days four-wheelin'.

My step-son got his first buck hunting last year with his dad in Idaho. They are Native American and do a bit of hunting out of state.

I’d love to get out there and do a bit of outdoorsman stuff. Although, last year my wife and I took a multi-spot camping trip and realized the Bureau Of Land Management out here offers quite a bit of that. Thanks for sharing! Idaho is a place I’d like to get to.

I'm surprised you haven't done a Dirtbag Challenge build/ride. Seams this would be the perfect combination of your interest in rat bikes and outdoor activities. The past few years DBC rides have included camping along the Russian River, Eel River, Usal Beach, and Deer Creek. Here are a few photos from past DBC rides...
