I really like Sonoma despite all the criticism. I'm also terrified to get out there as a season opener. Lots of cobwebs and pent up frustration is bound to cause some issues.

Are there data to support that more crashes occur during a season opener? I really like Sonoma but I’m also willing to wait if historically the season opener is a shit show.

It was fine last year. Earnest does a good job of reminding folks the pavement is cold and telling them to calm their GD tits.

My observations and concerns are just based on my personal experience. C group is new and getting paraded around, A group has the experience, but B is a hot mess. It's like how I know the last session of the day is always the sketchiest.

I'm in A so I'll get dive bombed by a 12 year old kid on a 300 in session 1. Then I'll get passed like i'm standing still at s/f by a 1000 with red plates. I ended last year by crashing out and getting hurt so I'm a little hesitant.

Everything I have heard is that B is a hot mess. My friend Peter says, get to B, then get out as quickly as you can.

Historically our season opener has been a fantastic event with minimal incident; shaking off the cobwebs, so to speak, tends to heighten rider awareness and cautiousness as does the commitment to safety awareness provided by our highly capable and dedicated riding staff.

My suggestion is to sign-up, ride our season opener and enjoy the start of riding season.
